WeWinCon.org helps Boston CC artists, charities
Public service message: last weekend, Red Stylo Media and Odd Truth Inc., launched WeWinCon.org, a non-profit on-line convention to help the artists and charities affected by the sad events at and after the Boston Marathon bombings.
Due to the prolonged, city-wide manhunt for suspects connected to the Boston Marathon bombing, Boston Comic Con was postponed last minute. It was the right call out of concern for the safety of the public, but doing what is best still comes with unavoidable costs: many of the artists and small press folks scheduled to exhibit at the show were already en route or in the city, and then had to return home. In addition, Boston Comic Con contributes substantially to the Wieringo Scholarship and Boston Red Cross, and artists and attendees were at the ready to give generously. The show will go on at a later date, but everyone lost a little something this weekend. We want to help artists and small press get back to Boston.
WeWinCon.org is showcasing artists and organizations who are giving to some of the BCC charities, and also hosting a GAS CARD DRIVE to get prepaid gas cards to artists or small press who can't recoup lost travel expenses. Please visit WeWinCon.org to see some talented people do what they do best, buy an artist a tank of gas, or maybe just give to a worthy cause. Red Stylo Media is offering $10 off in the on-line store to anyone who contributes, and all donations will be made in your name. This is an ongoing effort, so please stop in a few times and see what's next, or follow us on Twitter.
We now return to your regularly scheduled bi-weekly newsletter,
