SUPERMAN FANS GET THE LATEST NEWS AT COMIC-CON PANEL
Today’s Panel Revealed New Superman Projects from Neal Adams and Max Landis, Plus the Latest News SUPERMAN, ACTION COMICS and BIZARRO
During today’s panel at COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO 2015, fans were treated to a Fortress of Solitude-sized dose of news about the Man of Steel.
The panel kicked off with comic book legend Neal Adams announcing his plans for COMING OF THE SUPERMEN, scheduled for November. In this six-issue limited series, fans can expect the same sense of wonder that Bat-fans encountered with his BATMAN: ODYSSEY miniseries. This story pits Superman against the evil Darkseid and his son, brutal Kalibak. But this time he has help from an unlikely place: Three national heroes from the city of Kandor (now known as New Krypton) who see Superman as a legend. Even Superman’s arch-enemy Lex Luthor is forced to ally himself with these heroes to prevent Darkseid from laying waste to the universe.
Hollywood screenwriter and Eisner-nominee Max Landis (CHRONICLE) followed up with the announcement of November’s SUPERMAN: AMERICAN ALIEN, a seven part collection of stories from the life of Clark Kent. Ranging from heartwarming and simple to gritty and two-fisted and even humorous, each story captures a pivotal moment in Clark’s development into the archetypical hero he’s become. Landis will be joined by seven of the industry’s greatest artists:
Ryan Sook will provide the cover art, with artists JOCK (BATMAN, GREEN ARROW: YEAR ONE), Nick Dragotta, Tommy Lee Edwards (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, THE QUESTION), Joelle Jones, Jae Lee (BATMAN/SUPERMAN), Francis Manapul (DETECTIVE COMICS) and Jonathan Case (BATMAN ’66) providing interior art.
Award-winning graphic novelist and new SUPERMAN writer Gene Yang and ACTION COMICS co-writer Greg Pak updated fans on Superman, recapping the events from “TRUTH” and giving fans a look into what’s happening next in “JUSTICE,” where a newly de-powered Superman continues to deal with the consequences of his now public secret identity and a Metropolis police department making things increasingly difficult for folks in his neighborhood.
Fans also heard the latest on Superman’s opposite number BIZARRO, courtesy of writer Heath Corson. He provided a sneak peek at what’s next for the mismatched duo of Bizarro and Jimmy Olsen as they continue on the craziest road trip in the DC Universe!

Geoff Johns Reveals JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MEN
Series of October One-Shots to Spotlight Several Key Players in the “Darkseid War”
During Friday’s One on One panel at COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO 2015, JUSTICE LEAGUE writer Geoff Johns revealed his plans for
series of one-shots spinning out of his current “Darkseid War” story arc.
Scheduled for October, JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MEN is a series of six single issues focusing on key characters in the Darkseid War and extends their individual conflicts against the backdrop of universal Armageddon, with Darkseid squaring off against the Anti-Monitor:
Batman – Armed with the godlike power of the Mobius Chair, the Dark Knight has taken on the role of Metreon and plans to use the infinite knowledge of this device to turn Gotham City into a completely crime-free zone!
Superman – Corrupted by the weird energies of Apokolips’ fire pits, Superman has been turned into an angry, violent brute. And only one man can possibly save him: Lex Luthor.
Green Lantern – Oa has been conquered and transformed into a Parademon factory and the Green Lantern Corps is no more! Only Hal Jordan remains to follow a distress call from the last active Lantern seen fighting on Oa: John Stewart
Lex Luthor – At last, Lex Luthor, the new ruler of Apokolips, can do what he never could accomplish on Earth: hold the fate of a world in his hands. But his one failure from the “Darkseid War” continues to keep him from the peace he craves – and only a crazed Superman can help him get it!
The Flash – The Flash takes on the role of death’s harbinger, the Black Racer. And the beneficiary of his first visit is Aquaman!
Shazam! – Instead of accessing the powers of the old gods, Billy Batson now commands the combined powers of the New Gods like Highfather, Mantis and others trapped within the Source Wall. And that’s power that no mortal should possess!

OVER THE SURFACE, THE MIGHTY ZODIAC, AND ANOTHER CASTLE ANNOUNCED AT ONI PRESS EDITORIAL PANEL

SAN DIEGO, CA July 9, 2015 – Oni Press, Portland’s premier independent comic book publisher, announced today at their San Diego Comic-Con Editorial panel three new 2016 titles: Over the Surface, by Natalie Nourigat, Another Castle, by Andrew Wheeler and Paulina Ganucheau, and The Mighty Zodiac, by J. Torres and Corin Howell.
Working with Natalie Nourigat, Paulina Ganucheau and Corin Howell, Oni Press is extremely pleased to be able to support incredibly talented women creators in each of their new titles. Natalie Nourigat has become a star to watch since her early collaboration with Oni Press on A Boy and a Girl, Paulina Ganucheau has gone from success to success and anticipation could not be higher for her upcoming Zodiac Starforce series, while Corin Howell continues to receive glowing critical praise for Transformers: Windblade. It is an honor for Oni Press to be collaborating with these women on exciting, new independent comic books.

In Over the Surface, written and illustrated by Natalie Nourigat (Thrilling Adventure Hour, A Boy and a Girl, Between Gears), Ava Lefevre longs to be a pilot but the Solveran Army doesn't allow women into its ranks. However the country is at war with a neighboring country, Isolestra, and needs all the help in can get. Taking advantage of this, Ava boasts to a recruitment party that she can outfly their best pilot, Victor. A dogfight is set up between the two and Ava comes out on top - buying her enrollment into the military. Ava finally has everything she's always wanted but soon discovers that there's more to the war than what the government is telling civilians - especially after she's tasked with taking down the growing resistance movement in Solvera. Can Ava keep her dream of flying while there's so much turmoil on the ground?

Another Castle, written by Andrew Wheeler and illustrated by Paulina Ganucheau (Zodiac Starforce, Adventure Time: Pixel Princesses), is the story of Princess Misty, captured by the evil Badlug, who quickly mounts an escape and is nearly out the door when she discovers that her disappearance would have terrible consequences. Because without a princess, the prince won't come, and without the prince, the legendary sword that can kill Badlug also won't come. And if Misty leaves, Badlug will be infuriated, and take it out on the citizens of Grimoire. It's happened before, when Misty's own mother died while she was Badlug's prisoner, and he blew up his own castle. So Misty returns to captivity, and conspires with the citizens of the castle to bring a regime change to Grimoire. Together, they team up with the bumbling prince, get the sword, and free the kingdom.

The Mighty Zodiac, written by J. Torres (Teen Titans Go, Bigfoot Boy) and illustrated by Corin Howell (Batmite, Transformers: Windblade), begins when six stars fall out of the sky to earth. Master Long sends a message to his students, all members of the Zodiac Clan, to collect the stars and return them to their base. However, the Moon Rabbit Army is also after the stars, and will stop at nothing to make sure they don't get back to Master Long - even if it means snuffing them out. It's up to the Zodiac Clan to not only collect the stars but protect their ailing Master Long from the Moon Rabbit Army's might.
