Sheldon Moldoff died recently. There is an account of his career by Mark Evanier here and some remarks of appreciation by Jim Shooter here.

 

I'm sure many Batman stories I remember fondly were drawn by him, and his Alex Raymond-inspired Golden Age work was classy.
