The Prismatic Age

I've been meaning to show you guys this idea for a while, but never got around to it. Basically one blogger feels that he has hit on the essential character of the current comicbook 'Age' we are living through. We've had the Golden Age followed by Silver, Bronze and possibly Dark Ages and then ...what? This is the essay from the Mindless One's site wherein he makes his case for calling it the 'Prismatic Age'. He uses the idea of the prism, because just as the prism breaks light into a multitude of beams, our current age is typified by an endless re-imagining and rebooting of already existing characters and we get endless variations on a limited number of core concepts. Superheroes keep meeting their doubles, their clones, their replacements etc. Think Batman's mantle, the reign of Supermen, Spider-man's clone saga. And that's just for starters. http://mindlessones.com/2008/08/03/a-hall-of-mirrors-ii-prismatic-age/ His writing style mightn't appeal to everyone, but if you're in a rush I try to give a round-down of it in a recent post I made in the Aztek thread of the Grant Morrison forum. https://captaincomics.ning.com/group/itsthemadmadmadmadworldofgrantmorrison/forum/topics/aztek-the-ultimate-man What do you think?
