This was on sale at BJ's (9.99) so I was able to afford it. I wasn't prepared for the speed of the story. I expected something like the Captain Marvel serial. Still I think they followed the basic short story formula of the comic book, with short chapters and lots of thrills. Excellent use of animated Superman and stock footage. I've only gotten to the reducer ray segment but I'm enjoying it so far. I think some of the acting is kind of wooden. The Spider Lady in particular doesn't look like she wants to be there. Noel Neill and Kirk Alyn look like they are having fun though. Alyn tends to bound around a lot when he's in costume.

I'm annoyed that I have still never seen this thing (or its sequel). I did manage to get both BATMAN serials from the 40's, and the 1943 serial has become one of my all-time favorite versions of BATMAN, ever! They may have had a lot of details wrong, but they really, REALLY "got" the characters (Bruce, Dick, Alfred).
