Los Angeles -- From the mind of Keu Cha (Witchblade, Rising Stars) comes a fantasy unheard off. Join Keu Cha this February as he uncovers a once great land, now steeped in darkness and decay.
The project of HEX started off with a Preview sketchbook and limited Lost Issue and due to the amazing support of fans at the shows and through the online store it has kept Keu´s dreams alive and allowed them to get to this point - the completion of the long anticipated first issue of Hex, ready for the presses.
As Keu says: "The goal is to stay independent and self publish the entirety of this series. Self publishing is a huge undertaking and the challenges have been many. The past 2 years have been a long learning curve on managing all aspects of a comic book project that included finding the right team, traveling to comic conventions to promote the project, making the right business connections, and money. We did all of this on a shoestring budget financed out of our own pocket."
One of the reasons that it has taken longer than expected to get the first issue done is that Keu has had to work other jobs to finance Hex and support his family, thus he has not been able to focus all of his time on the book.
And Keu continues: "Our plan is to solicit the book through Diamond to reach the mainsteam comic book stores but it takes a few issues in the can, pre-ordered and paid for before we see any returns. All funds from Kickstarter goes directly to completing and printing the first few books. Specifically, it will cover the costs of talent, production, printing, and promotion."
And that is where Keu is reaching out to fans at this Criticial Moment via Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2101706991/hex-the-lost-tribe
With the first issue done and the script set for the following issues, they need at minimum the first 3 issues completed to meet solicitation guidelines and ensure that the books will be released timely once they are solicited. The more funds they raise, the more issues they can publish and eventually get to a place where the series is self-sustaining through retail sales.
There is no way Keu can make Hex an on-going series in comic stores if this adventure does not meet the goal amount and more.

A synopsis of the HEX THE LOST TRIBE shows the true fantasy setting of this new world and its aspiration:
A vast legion of undead soldiers, amassed from the remains of generations before, ravage the land. They are lorded over by an ambitious necromancer who will not stop short of domination over that is known.
LANA, princess of the last Kingdom to fall before this unholy army, must flee her home and travel into the black heart of the growing necropolis that the rest of the realm has become. Out there amongst the ruins lies perhaps the only chance for the world’s salvation: the mythical, mysterious Lost Tribe, a forgotten band of powerful woman warriors and their beastly companions.
Lana will come face-to-face with RUYN, the monster that has long haunted her dreams, a being consumed by his own uncontrollable rage. Does this creature hold the key to saving Lana’s people or will their encounter unleash an ancient evil capable of destroy creation itself?

As creator Keu Cha is contemplating his Kickstarter adventure (88% funded with 23 days to go) he explains: “The response on Kickstarter has been amazing so far, thanks to all our fans and friends, new and old, but we are still pushing hard to meet our initial goal as soon as possible and get to our stretch goals. We want to reach as many people as possible and just get the word out that the first book is done and will be available soon. This is just the beginning.”
And Keu Cha also tells about the special format of this new fantasy series: “First and foremost is the format very special. Every page is a double page spread. It allows the reader to submerge him or herself into the artwork and story and see how big our world really is.
Also, Hex is a serious story where good is pitted against evil, and heroes will die.”
On why Keu choose this special format, or rather the format choose him: “I always like drawing on larger scale and thought this book would be the perfect opportunity to do so. The concept is big, the characters are big and the big format allows me to express that. Also I wanted our book not just to feel like a comic book but also an art book – something readers can really enjoy looking at.”
Keu Cha is really enthusiastic to reach his goal, but stretching the goals will be a new endeavor for sure!
“In addition to the art prints by phenomenal artists such as Joe Benitez, Billy Tan and Leinil Francis Yu, we do have in mind adding a few more stretch goals. For example, giving our 2nd issue comic book (when completed) to all who have pledged over $20 or more. Another possible new stretch goal is upgrading the perfect bound, oversize 1st issue into a hard cover. We do have more cool stretch goal ideas in mind but these are just the beginning. Stay tuned to our progress on Kickstarter!”
Keu would like to address all the persons who have not yet pledged in saying: “Please come and check out Hex The Lost Tribe and you will see for yourself what I’m trying to put together. I will not publish any book that is not up to 100% of my standards. If you think these pages are awesome now, wait until we get further along in the story. “

Keu Chua of 'Hex the Lost Tribe' attending Arizona Comic-Con
Los Angeles -- Keu Cha and Hex The Lost Tribe will be attending The Amazing Arizona Comic Con in Mesa Arizona on January 6-8.
Come by and support us and get the chance to win original art and prints. Also, Keu Cha will be doing a 'how to draw' workshop!
Keu Cha tells: "The workshop is going to be alot of fun. I'll get the chance to talk as I draw and give you a glimpse into my madness. Believe it or not, there is a lot of thought, understanding and experimenting every step of the way. My goal is to show this birthing process in all it's glory!! I'll get frustrated when I'm stuck and excited when things work out. I plan on doing this by not planning... because I want to talk about the creative thinking before the drawing. I feel it is equally as important. I want everyone to enjoy and relate in seeing me struggle. Can't wait!!!!!
Warning: I might swear from time to time.
I want to thank Bill and Jimmy Jay for holding the show and for all the support!"

Keu Cha invites you to join his and Lana's adventure for this multi-issued series.
Keu Cha received his big break into comics at Top Cow Productions as a background artist and an artist on Darkchylde. Eventually Keu Cha debuted as penciller on Rising Stars. After his stint on Rising Stars, Keu pencilled the top-selling titles Witchblade, Tombraider and Darkness.
He was named a top ten artist of the month by Wizard in December 1999. Keu then took an extended hiatus from comics to work in the movie poster and video game advertising industry.
He art directed the poster finishes for such movies as Hulk, American Gangster, Repo Men and Pacific and created the keyart for video games such as Wanted and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
Lately he has been painting Top Cow's Magdalena but he has been developing his first creator owned title, Hex: The Lost Tribe, for the past year as well and is thrilled that it will be coming out soon.
HEX marks Keu Cha's return to comic books and fantasy art; his roots and his true passion.
