DC's April-May event, Convergence, will be a 9-part weekly series framed by 40 2-part microseries, each apparently featuring characters from alternate realities and DC's past. In addition, it looks like the books will feature a lot of talent not regularly working for DC -- a lot of them either webcomic newcomers, or writers and artists DC doesn't use as much any more. (There's talk, for example, of Tim Truman of either Hawkman or Jonah Hex). In DC's promo image, there are a lot of familiar faces: The Justice Society, Wally West & Donna Troy, Infinity Inc., Kamandi... So what characters would you like to see, or what variations of current characters? Who would you like to see writing and drawing them?

  • Personally, aside from some of the people pictured (and once the board controls are working again, I'll upload the image, but you can see it at Newsarama and other sites), I'd really love to see a 2-shot devoted to the Power Company, by Kurt Busiek & Tom Grummett.
  • That would be awesome.

Depends on whether they mean "convergence" as in the fact that it will all be one universe again or not... But assuming they stick with the 52 universes, here's what I would like:

    • A Kamandi series. I read the Kirby run on this title in omnibus form this summer. I would say an "all-ages" series, but I won't. Because I just want it to be good. It would probably be great for my fifth graders.
    • A Wonder Woman book that is like the one from Wednesday Comics. I would love to be able to hand my kindergarten niece a book like that.
    • You know what? I just hope we can keep all the different universes. I like how DC is experimenting with the different universes right now.

  • I'd love to see Kamandi -- and it looks like we're going to, for at least two issues. He and Dr. Canus are in one of the Convergence windows.

That Wednesday Comics Wonder Woman series would be great. Love to see the original Amethyst again, too.

Would love to see the Ostrander Suicide Squad again.

And yeah, I'm happy to have plenty of universes to explore!

  • Do you guys accept "Batman 66" as its own planet?   I sure do!

  • It hadn't occurred to me, but sure!

  • Earth-66 is a good enough name. Just because they're saying there are 52 known universes doesn't mean there aren't more they haven't discovered yet.

Perhaps if it's successful enough a Superman 52 or a Wonder Woman 75 might follow.

  • Ron M. Good one. Maybe all DC TV series could be on planet Batman 66
  • The last season Superman got pretty campy. The Superman that set a deck of cards on fire with his x-ray vision then told Lois "Maybe it was a hot deck!" would fit in with the 60s Batman. Maybe we'd even get a World's TV Finest. Or a Justice League based on Legends of the Superheroes.

  • I think DC is planning a Wonder Woman 77 digital series as a companion to Batman 66. (BTW, I just read the really fun Egghead issue last week. So much fun!)

  • Too bad. The WWII episodes were the best of that series.

Might be more interesting to do a Wonder Woman 79, since the series ended with her moving to Los Angeles and writing Steve Trevor Jr. out of the show, setting up a brand new premise that we never saw.
