  • The above should be a link to UK " record " :-) label Ace Records' page , in their catalogue, for an authorized CD reissue of the best of the Marketts , the studio group which had the BILBOARD singles chart hit version of the 60s Adam West BATMAN show theme (not the Jam , the Kinks , the Who , the Ventures - or the other " who is it ? " citation that I'm going to make below) .

Frankly , if it didn't go up , someone  else will have to correct this link , I definitely did find the page but my admitted limited computer skills AS WELL AS , I think , the fact that I have , more than once , had trouble w/putting up links here........... well .

  • ...The Bat-Series , the general " super-good guy " craze , and the more general " camp/nostalgia " boom of the mid-60s created some odd artifacts .

Concentrating on audio ones for now , I'd like to list some/discuss them here .

A bit ago , on a college radio station where , at the end of a DJ's shift , that DJ seemed to be filling in time at the top/bottom of an hour before the next DJ came on the air , I heard what I'm sure was a 1960s semi-instrumental " songs of cartoons/comics " LP , about 3 tracks from it , kind of " rock & roll orchestral " versions with a female vocal trio maybe singing the title-/hooklines of the songs but not the whole lyrics .

I remember the West " Batman " theme , then an instrumental that I knew I recognized but could not remember the title of , then the Hollywood Argyles'/Dante and the Evergreens' " Alley Oop " with , again , just the title line/hook as all of the lyrics the " femme vox " sang .

  • ...I once had , bought about the Eighties , a bargain-bin cassette dating from the late Sixties iIRC on the Josie label of an album of/with comics-oriented and perhaps more general " nostalgic/good times " things , I remember " Barney Google With The Goo Goo Googly Eyes " and the OTR " Who's that little chatterbox ? " Orphan Annie theme being on it , stuff that might have been seeing as more gnerally appealing - and in the mid-late 60s , not THAT far back !

  • ...I mentioned before that , when late-80s Batmania II happened , I saw some 60s BatAudio stuff reished...There were at least 1 LP , and maybe two , " officiaLLY " connected to the Adam West series , one of which I saw in a US CD pressing that ( remember longboxes ? " had a design that avoided all Bat-gramphics & imagery and only used the Bat-copyrighted term " Batman " in " normal " typography , no bigger than any other word .

It may have been this LP , and it may have been another one , this one possibly actually a " soundtrack " , that I'd see in UK pressings then , with plenty of Bat-pix/type all over it , West/Ward and all...
