The All New Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 Is In Stores NOW!

Learn how Miles Morales Becomes The All-New Spider-Man

New York — Today the historic Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 arrives in comic shops and on the Marvel Comics App, kicking off an all new era for the world’s most popular super hero! You met Miles Morales this summer, but now you can learn just how this regular kid from Brooklyn gained super powers…and just how it’s all tied to Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man! But before Miles dons his all new Spider-costume, he’ll first have to deal with dangers—and secrets—like no other super hero has experienced before. Superstars Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli present the new comic book series that’s captured the attention of fans, press and pundits from all over the world—and deliver a new kind of super hero for the 21st century.

“We’re extremely proud of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 and excited for fans to discover the origin of this new Spider-Man,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor in Chief. “Brian and Sara have created an important new character in Miles Morales, one that speaks not only to the diversity—in background and experience—of a modern reader, but also to what it means to be a super hero in today’s world.”

In August 2011, Marvel launched Ultimate Comics Reborn, a relaunch of the genre-defining imprint that reimagined the world’s most popular super heroes for a new generation. Featuring bold new takes on Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, the X-Men and more, Ultimate Comics Reborn also reinvented Spider-Man in a move that captured unparalleled interest and commentary from fans all over the world, as Peter Parker was permanently replaced as Spider-Man for the first time in his fifty-year history.

Critics agree—Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 is a hit:

“Make Mine Morales…this is some whole new level kind of stuff.”—David Pepose, Newsarama.com

“Meet Miles Morales. You’ll be glad you did.”—Paul Montgomery, iFanboy.com

“Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 makes it look easy, striking a strong balance between showing what readers need to know and teasing what might come later.”—James Hunt, ComicBookResources.com

“Pichelli has the rare ability to render teen superhero books that are both stylized and utterly believable. The characters are expressive, detailed, and all visually distinct.”—Jesse Schedeen, IGN.com

The world’s greatest super hero icon is about to undergo the most groundbreaking reinvention in comic book history—where will you be when the new Spider-Man begins his first ongoing series? You can’t miss Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1, available tomorrow at your local comic shop or digitally on the Marvel Comics App for iOS devices.

  • "Wow. He's just a kid"

That's what someone is gonna say in the first few issues.

  • Bought one yesterday. Haven't read it yet.
  • I picked it up and read it. A few years back I liked the Ultimate universe but didn't follow it regularly. I decided that their changing the status quo across the board a bit, I'd take a look at the new titles.

While this issue is a typical Bendis issue, lots of talking not so much action, I liked it. It's a bit of a different set-up for Spider-man, though they do have a connected origin. The last page reveals show that while Miles Morales is Spider-man, he's going to be an  all new hero with different powers. The preview up top does not do the art justice. Looking at it in person, it's amazing.

  • My sales on the Ultimate relaunch are nearly as through the roof as the DC relaunch.
