Baron & Rude Return to Nexus

From Steve Rude's newsletter:

Baron and Rude are re-uniting for a new Nexus story. The story will be published under the Dark Horse banner in their Dark Horse Presents anthology book. After three 10-page installments in DHP, the story will eventually be published as its own stand-alone 30 pg. book. We're withholding plot specifics at this point, but Baron's story will focus on the "nature of evil".

Baron will script, Rude will draw, ink, and letter! More details as they arise. Merry Christmas to all Nexus fans!

  • Sounds nice. But it won't be the same without Gary Martin (who's a MUCH better inker than Rude).

  • Only 30 pages?

  • I think it's a tragic sign of just how bad things are, that when Steve Rude decided to try his hand at self-publishing, I was unable to afford his comics. (And I'm probably his target audience!) At least NEXUS is not completely dead in the water. For a time in the 80's & 90's, it was my #1 FAVORITE new comic (at least, when Rude was drawing it).

  • The full run on Nexus is one of the finest and most nuanced stories ever told by an incredibly talented team. I do hope that when it is collected, the self-published stuff will be in there also.

  • I would hope so.

Frankly, after difficulties and delays surrounding the most recent Nexus limited series and given some of the problems Rude has discussed in his newsletter), because Baron and Rude have agreed that all Nexus going forward will be by Baron & Rude, I didn't expect to ever see Nexus again. Too bad, too, because it was my favorite title at the time it was being published, and I'm sure it wold be again.
