I just read Batman #18 (yep, I'm a few issues behind). I was puzzled when I got the end of the book and Harper told Batman that he broke her nose. Huh? Thinking I might have bought an issue with some pages missing, I reread the previous scenes twice and I'm still not finding it.

There is the sequence where Batman knocks her through a fence (though Scott Snyder and Andy Kubert don't actually show him doing it), but her nose isn't bleeding throughout the rest of their conversation and you'd think that if Batman had broke her nose then, Harper'd be saying something like, "You broke my nose!" or 'Why did you break my nose?"

Is this just poor storytelling or am I missing something?

  • In my opinion, Mr. Neno, this is just poor storytelling. I didn't get it either.

  • Yeah... I think they were torn between clarity and a picture of Batman hitting Harper in the face that would circle the Internet 30 times before breakfast. Clarity lost.

  • Thanks, guys. I'm glad I wasn't the only one. Things like this are what DC editors are for.
