I'm not much of a gamer but I was excited for the release of Batman Arkham City. I had played a friend's copy of  Arkham Asylum and loved it. I got far in the game but haven't beat it yet. I'm not that great at game's and it tends to take me longer to beat them.

Anyways the same friend bought Arkham City this week. He's currently focusing his efforts on some other game and let me borrow Arkham City for the next few weeks. He preordered it so he got the Catwoman downloadable content as well. He doesn't have internet so he let me download it and will come to my house to play the Catwoman stuff.

As far as the game goes, I'm not far in it, well it feels like I am but I think I'm only 5% complete. That's because aside from the story there's a bunch of side missions, 400 Riddeler challenges, the Catwoman content, the eventual Robin content and who knows what else. I can see the replay value of this game already.

The gameplay is similiar to the first. Everything's the same but a bit smoother which is a good thing. The combat is still easy to figure and out and still a lot of fun. You do feel lik you are Batman in this. The detective mode is the same which is cool. You do have an electrical gun that disrupts electrical current to open doors and what not, it's pretty awesome too.

By downloading the Catwoman story before I played, it allows me to play as Catwoman during the game. There's a few breaks where it shifts to her story and you play as her. Which makes the game huge. Her story is not exactly connected to Batman's.

Has anyone played it yet? I'm enjoying it but I'm currently stuck so if you have played it and are further along than me, I could use some help. :) If you are a Batman fan and have a slight interest in video games, it's worth checking out. I would borrow it from a friend or wait for a price drop because $60 is a bit steep, imo.

  • I have not played it, but want to.  It looks great.

Thanks for confirming my feelings, Jason.

  • I was going to buy the music CD tie-in (as advertised in current DC comics) but it wasn't in stock where I buy my music.

  • To shorten my review. If you liked Arkham Asylum, you'll like Arkham City.
