I dropped the series formerly titled Captain America and Bucky when Ed Brubaker left and it became a team-up book, but I picked up this one because it features the Sub-Mariner and is set in WWII. It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to reconcile the differences between the original Golden Age comics, The Invaders, Silver/Bronze Age continuity implants and more recent “retcons” (to use the term in its popular sense). This one is very dark and introduces an Illuminati-like group which has invited Namor to join. It’s not that I object to such shadow groups in theory, but why must Marvel continually set their in the past to muck up established continuity? I imagine we’ll be seeing more of this group in the future.
