I recall that when Jim Shooter wrote the Legion, toward the end of his run he introduced two characters-- "Quanto" and "Quantum Queen"-- in two separate stories. No direct tie was made between them, but by the similarity of names one assumes he meant to do something with them.
In later years, did Shooter or anyone follow up on this potential plot-thread?

Quanto was one of the Taurus Gang from Adventure Comics #374. He was from another dimension and could turn into light. He had no sense of right or wrong though he was a romantic at heart, being attracted to fellow Taurus member Mystelor. Of course, that was when Dream Girl was disguised as her working undercover! But he was never seen again as far as I can recall.
Quantum Queen was actually first seen as a statue among the deceased Legionnaires in the now legendary (some would say infamous) Adult Legion from Adventure #354. She made her actual appearance as one of the Wanderers in Adventure #375. She could transform herself into any form of quantum energy, making her potentially very powerful but was never seen much. I can recall only cameo appearances like Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel's wedding in Superboy #200.
Post-Crisis the Wanderers had their own short-run title, eleven issues, I think.
It ran 13 issues (I read all of them not too long ago), and in that series all of the members had their powers amped up. It was an alright series, but I didn't care for the art.
Later Legion series ran through a few Quantum Kid's as well. Maybe nods to the earlier characters?
Wasn't the Post-Crisis Kid Quantum killed because his power came from a device thus causing the emerging Legion to demand natural super-powers?

Right. His sister got the same powers, but she had surgery to amp hers up instead of using a belt. Also, I know it is supposed Kid Quantum, but I always say/type Quantum Kid.
