This title took me completely by surprise. John Byrne recently wrapped up his latest Next Men series, and I had no idea his next project was to be a Cold War-era spy thriller. The first story is titled “The Damocles Contract” and reads very much like a James Bond novel of that era (not to be confused with a James Bond movie of the swinging sixties). “A Cold War-era spy thriller by John Byrne.” I knew what to expect and it did not disappoint. Sometimes you really can judge a book by its cover.
