X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE #1 (OF 4), $4.99: Lord, this feels so much like a rerun.
New York, NY— August 18, 2025 — The Age of Apocalypse returns in X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE, a six-part event series by legendary scribe Jeph Loeb, a writer behind the original event, and Eisner nominated artist Simone Di Meo. Marking the 30th anniversary of the revolutionary ‘90s X-Men crossover, X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE will mirror the original epic—kicking off next month in X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE ALPHA #1, continuing through X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE #1-4, and concluding in X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE OMEGA #1. X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE ALPHA #1 hits stands in just a few weeks, and today, four covers for X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE #1, on sale in November, are revealed.
Di Meo teases the return of Loeb’s iconic co-creation, Nate Grey, A.K.A. X-MAN! Legendary artist Arthur Adams spotlights Rogue, Magneto, and Gambit--the steamy X-Men love triangle that Age of Apocalypse made even more complex! Best-selling cover artist Fanyang delivers a stunning portrait of one of Age of Apocalypse’s biggest breakout stars, BLINK. And influential ‘90s superstar Joe Madureira continues his series of covers featuring the very characters he helped define with an electrifying depiction of Age of Apocalypse’s STORM. Another creator behind the original Age of Apocalypse, Madureira returns to the franchise for the first time in decades for this special anniversary event, drawing a variant cover for each issue of X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE. Madureira’s covers will also come available as alternate virgin versions.
X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE #1 delivers the showdown fans have been waiting for: THE X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE VS. THE UNCANNY X-MEN! The X-Men of Apocalypse are here in the Marvel Universe – and that’s a very bad thing for the Uncanny X-Men!
Taking place in the direct aftermath of the original crossover’s explosive finale, X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE reignites the mission of this iconic reality’s X-Men as they journey here to ensure their universe’s survival. This desperate mission will take them into the main Marvel Universe, where they will come into conflict with their classic counterparts, forever impacting both team’s destinies!
“I’ve been a big fan of Jeph’s for years,” Di Meo told AIPT in today’s X-Men Monday column, which also debuted the lettered preview for X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE ALPHA. “I read a lot of his books with amazing artists like Joe Madureira. I’m really lucky to work on this project — but sometimes, I also feel under pressure for this reason, because a lot of people know Jeph’s work and I need to do my best to create something special with him.”
On bringing back Nate Grey, Loeb said, “An Age of Apocalypse celebration wouldn’t be complete with X-MAN! I’m thrilled to return to mutantkind’s greatest psychic powerhouse, who’s caught between two worlds as his home universe collides with his current one—with disastrous results! The X-Men of Apocalypse have arrived, but the Uncanny X-Men aren’t going to be the most welcoming…”
IMPERIAL
NOVA CENTURION #1, $4.99: So Richard Rider is a mercenary now. Not where I expected him to end up. Not something I want to read about, either. But I may sample if Imperial makes me curious.

GOT A PROBLEM? NOVA CAN HELP – FOR A PRICE!
With the Xandarian Worldmind, the sentient repository of an entire extinct people’s culture and history, relying on regular (and expensive) energy infusions, Richard Rider is for hire. A deep-space drifter weighed down with the truth of the terrible lie that the new Galactic Union was built upon, Nova is a corps of one. But how long can he keep his hands clean handling dirty money?
“I’m so excited,” Phillips said. “Working with Aaron is so exciting, it’s fantastic. [For Planet She-Hulk], think big game of thrones. Think things not always related to She-Hulk. She’s ripped into a world that she’s not used to, and she has to bring her own sensibilities to it when she’s now facing witches, rebels, and cannibals…it’s going to be great. We wanted to go big. She’s got a giant sword, PLEASE let us use it.”
“This is a story that unites all the disparate and separate powers of the galactic portion of the Marvel Universe--the Kree, the Shi'ar, the Skrulls, and more—all in one big science-fiction epic, set up in a series of Russian nesting dolls where in every issue, something is pulled off, and something is revealed behind the thing you just learned the last time out. It’s an all-out cosmic war,” Brevoort shared.
ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM
ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #9 (OF 9), $4.99: At last! I'm still excited about reading this ending, even though most readers -- and Marvel's solicitations -- have moved on. Yes, I know Doom loses, and I know the FF is instrumental, and I've seen Ryan North putting the dominos in place in One World Under Doom and Fantastic Four. From solicitations of books after Doom's fall, I can well imagine how it will happen. But now that this book is here, I don't have to imagine. I can, finally, read it!
Written by RYAN NORTH

Cover by BEN HARVEY
The Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing Panel, one of the most anticipated moments of San Diego Comic-Con, just concluded, giving fans a glimpse at the most monumental storylines coming to the Marvel Universe! In addition to new series announcements, writer Ryan North revealed the cover of ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #9, the final issue of North and R.B. Silva’s epic event series that’s defined the last year of Marvel Comics storytelling. On sale in November, Ben Harvey’s cover dramatically teases Doom’s fall, but while his reign may end, the impact of Doom’s final actions will be felt forever! What comes next? Will Doom retain the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme or will another step up to become Earth’s prime mystical protector? See the potential candidates on a new promotional image by artist Devmalya Pramanik and learn more in the months ahead.
FINALE!
Doom has confronted all of Earth’s heroes in battle – and he’s won. What’s more, he’s used the magical power of Sorcerer Supreme to ensure that this victory has become a fixed moment in time: a thing that will stand forever, impervious to magic or time travel alike. But unbeknownst to Doom, in that climatic moment that can now never be changed, the seeds of Doom’s downfall were also fixed for all eternity. Left with an intolerable defeat that cannot be changed, Doom makes a choice he can never undo – and the rest of the world will pay his price...
“The story is in two parts,” North explained. “[In the second part], you’re kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop, because there’s no way he’s doing what he's doing without any consequences. So in the second half, you see what’s going on behind the scenes.”
“There is some stuff coming up that I’m very excited for,” he continued. “I know issue nine is the conclusion, but issue eight has some big stuff that I’m very excited about.”

NO. 2: DC COMICS
DC/MARVEL BATMAN/DEADPOOL #1 (ONE-SHOT), $7.99: I finally got Deadpool/Batman, too late to join the commentary here. Hopefully the Baron will continue the discussion with this issue, and I'll have it in hand this time.
[Burbank, CA, August 13, 2025] What happens when the World’s Greatest Detective meets the Merc with a Mouth? Reality folds in on itself. Archetypes collide. Darkseid is. And, somewhere between Apokolips and Earth-TRN666, a sentient street named Danny hums show tunes about a crusading cape! DC Comics today revealed that Batman/Deadpool #1, a 64-page one-shot crossover comic book with a main cover by Dan Mora, retailing for $7.99 US, hits shelves on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
But DC’s Batman/Deadpool #1 isn’t just a comic book crossover between iconic publishers, it’s a metaphysical car crash between two storytelling philosophies. One character broods in the shadows of trauma and justice. The other cartwheels through chaos, breaking the fourth wall and occasionally the laws of physics. Together, they’re forced to confront a threat that doesn’t just endanger their worlds—it questions their very existence as fictional constructs.
With a main story by Grant Morrison and Dan Mora, Batman/Deadpool #1 launches a reality-bending saga that’s equal parts cosmic horror, slapstick noir, and metafictional therapy session. It’s the kind of comic book that knows it’s a comic book, revels in being a comic book, weaponizes its comic bookiness—and dares you to keep reading anyway!
Buckled into the backseat of Morrison and Mora’s Batmobile, four all-star bonus stories come roaring in, each crafted by a bona fide who’s who of comic book creators:
Comic legends collide as Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Joshua Williamson join forces with Hayden Sherman to conjure a spellbinding Constantine meets Doctor Strange saga. Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo deliver a kinetic, emotionally-charged encounter between Nightwing (Dick Grayson) and Wolverine (Laura Kinney), where acrobatics meet adamantium in a story that cuts deep. Mariko Tamaki and Amanda Conner unleash chaos and charisma in a riotous Harley Quinn vs. Hulk showdown, while G. Willow Wilson and Denys Cowan electrify the page with a high-voltage tale starring Static and Ms. Marvel.
These additional stories expand the scope and amplify the wild ambition of Batman/Deadpool #1, offering fans even more collisions of tone, style, and character chemistry. From brooding to bonkers, the Batman/Deadpool #1 creative teams go all in.
Ahead of DC’s Batman/Deadpool #1 arriving in November, Marvel’s Deadpool/Batman #1 will publish on September 17. Both of these incredible one-shot comic books will deliver explosive sagas starring DC’s Caped Crusader and Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth, along with bonus stories that showcase additional team-ups and showdowns between legendary characters from both universes.
To push the limits of DC’s cosmic collision of comic book characters even further, Batman/Deadpool #1 will feature an extraordinary lineup of cardstock variant covers, including a wraparound blank blue cardstock sketch variant cover with the Batman/Deadpool logos and a foil variant of Dan Mora’s main cover, all retailing $8.99 US, from some of the most iconic and inventive artists in comics:
Dan Mora – Batman/Deadpool wraparound
Lee Bermejo – The Joker/Doctor Doom
Mark Brooks – Zatanna/Scarlet Witch
Jim Cheung and Jay David Ramos – Wonder Woman/Captain America
Amanda Conner and Alex Sinclair – Harley Quinn/Hulk
Nick Dragotta and Frank Martin – Batman/The Punisher
Jenny Frison – Wonder Woman/Storm
Andy Kubert and Alejandro Sánchez – Robin (Damian Wayne)/Gambit
Jae Lee and June Chung – Big Barda/Savage Land Rogue
Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair – Batman/Wolverine
Alexander Lozano – Wonder Woman/Ms. Marvel
Sean Murphy and Simon Gough – Lobo/Deadpool
Frank Quitely – Batman/Deadpool
Bruno Redondo – Nightwing (Dick Grayson)/Wolverine (Laura Kinney)
Hayden Sherman – John Constantine/Doctor Strange
Bill Sienkiewicz – Batman/Deadpool — a The Incredible Hulk #340 homage
Ryan Sook – Batman/Deadpool — a Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 homage
Sozomaika – Catwoman/Emma Frost
With Morrison and Mora at the wheel, an all-star crew riding shotgun, and a pit crew of legendary artists delivering cardstock variant covers that expand the DC/Marvel crossover even further, DC’s Batman/Deadpool #1 is a showcase of comic book creativity. And yes, there will be owls. There will be blades. There will be blood. There will be a giant typewriter!
DC FINEST: GREEN LANTERN -- EARTH'S OTHER GREEN LANTERN TP, $39.99: Collects Green Lantern #40-61, Brave and Bold #69, Detective Comics #350, and The Flash #168. These aren't the last John Broome/Gil Kane Green Lanterns before the famous Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams stories. There's room for a whole 'nother volume before "No Evil Shall Escape My Sight!" (Green Lantern #76, April 1970). And frankly, some of them aren't that great, as DC was trying some new things to make Green Lantern sell better, and not all of them were good ideas. These stories are superior, the peak of the Broome/Kane Green Lantern run, so I can see why DC opted to drop them first. Oh yeah, you get Guy Gardner's debut also, but he isn't nearly as arrogant and belligerent as he would later become. He's a gym teacher.

ASTOUNDING WOLF MAN COMPENDIUM VOLUME 1 TP, $39.99
TECH JACKET COMPENDIUM VOLUME 1 TP, $39.99
LOS ANGELES 06/30/2025 — Today Skybound and Image Comics announced two new compendium additions to the Invincible Universe, expanding the line of the best superhero comics in the universe with two fan-favorite characters, Tech Jacket and The Astounding Wolf-Man, in November 2025.
“It’s been a pleasant surprise seeing the interest in both of these series spiking after their appearances in season 3 of Invincible!” said Robert Kirkman. “Tech Jacket and Wolf-Man are key characters in the larger Invincible Universe and it’s awesome seeing them get a moment in the sun. It only made sense to release the series in the best format in comics! I love Compendiums!”
Tech Jacket Compendium collects Tech Jacket #1-8, Tech Jacket Digital #1-3, and Tech Jacket (2013) #1-12 in the iconic oversized format, featuring the origins of high school student Zack Thompson as the galaxy’s most unexpected hero. Created by Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and E.J. Su (Blood & Thunder) in 2002, the titular hero debuted in a critically acclaimed limited series and then soon joined the pages of Invincible. He then returned in new adventures from Joe Keatinge (Shutter) and Khary Randolph (Excellence) that took Tech Jacket to new heights! This collection features an all-new cover by E.J. Su & Dave McCaig.
“It's crazy to look back on these books 20-some years later,” said E.J. Su. “Not only that it was my first book at one of the major publishers, but also it was the first time that I got to apply a lot of my childhood inspirations such as Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Gundam and Space Sheriff, just to name a few, to create a character of my own. Then to see what Khary Randolph and Joe Keatinge did later with the character, and to see how far the character has come along from the date of his creation. It has been an incredible journey.”
Then, The Astounding Wolf-Man Compendium collects The Astounding Wolf-Man #1-25 and Invincible #57 from co-creators Robert Kirkman and Jason Howard (Super Dinosaur). When Gary Hampton is mauled and left for dead, his life takes a drastic turn as the Astounding Wolf-Man! Created in 2007, this volume features Wolf-Man facing threats from across the world, encountering new allies like Invincible, and new foes he never expected!
“The Astounding Wolf-Man Compendium might just be the cure to the world’s problems,” said Jason Howard. “Or maybe it’s only an opportunity to get this seminal series all in one place, either way I’m excited to see it! Wolf-Man was a project that Robert and I put our all into and I can’t wait for people to discover (or rediscover) all the action, heart and crazy twists in store for them in this comic!”
Created by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, Invincible #1 debuted to critical acclaim on January 22, 2003. Ryan Ottley joined soon after on issue #8 in late 2003 as the new series artist and contributing creator. Throughout its fifteen-year run at Image Comics, Invincible not only continued for a historic 146 issues, but also spawned multiple spin-off series and even an inter-company crossover with a certain friendly neighborhood superhero. In 2021, Invincible arrived as a television series and took on a new life with fans globally, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. The critically acclaimed adult animated series co-produced by Skybound Animation and Amazon MGM Studios recently wrapped its third season, each of which has been “Certified Fresh” by Rotten Tomatoes, with the second and third seasons earning perfect 100% ratings. With a fourth season on the way and constant new activity for the property across entertainment, Invincible remains a cornerstone of the pop culture landscape that continues to grow in popularity every year.
These two new compendiums are perfect for fans looking to discover every corner of the Invincible Universe as in the hit Prime Video series, which continues to shatter records worldwide.
Tech Jacket Compendium (ISBN 978-1-5343-3056-6| SRP: $39.99) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, and at booksellers, along with digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

FINAL BOSS #1, $4.99: Press release.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. 07/23/2025 — From the dynamic creator and artist, Tyler Kirkham (Amazing Spider-Man, Green Lantern), comes an action-packed new series in the upcoming, Final Boss. This new ongoing series will kick off in November and mark Kirkham’s debut at Image Comics.
The premiere issue will boast variant covers by such fan-favorite artists as: V. Ken Marion, Ryan Ottley, Jae Lee, and Kirkham himself.
Prepare for an over-the-top adventure that's a high-octane nod to classic action stories. Trying to forge a new path, Tommy Brazen uses his newfound powers for various paid enforcer gigs and street fights, only to uncover a past far more complex than he ever imagined.
"Final Boss is a culmination of everything I loved growing up as an '80s and '90s kid," said Kirkham. "From the fan-favorite action heroes and beat 'em up arcade games to the groundbreaking energy of early Image comics. It’s a no-holds-barred nostalgic action adventure!"
INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE: CAPES #1, $3.99: Press release.
At his “Robert Kirkman LIVE at SDCC” panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC), visionary creator Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead, TRANSFORMERS) announced the return of the long out-of-print and very much in-demand comic book series Capes from Skybound and Image Comics. Representing his and co-creator/artist Mark Englert’s (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hack Slash) corner of the Invincible Universe, Capes will return to comic book shops beginning in November 2025 as a special remastering featuring new art and dialogue from the original creative team.
Reprinted for the first time since its release over 20 years ago, fans and collectors will not want to miss the new monthly releases of Capes. This series is perfect for fans looking to discover every corner of the Invincible Universe as seen in the hit Skybound and Prime Video series, which continues to shatter records worldwide.
Then, in a thrilling second announcement, Kirkman revealed that all-new Capes stories will be coming from another longtime friend of the Invincible Universe, writer Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, Blood & Thunder), alongside artist Mark Englert. Beginning in 2026 with issue #7, this revival of Capes promises to take fans even deeper into unexplored areas of the Invincible Universe.
“With so much excitement surrounding all things Invincible-related, I knew we had to get Capes back in print!” exclaimed an uncharacteristically enthusiastic Robert Kirkman. “Revisiting the original issues was so much fun, we knew we couldn’t stop there. I love these characters and it was a thrill to get to introduce the world to Bolt, Kid Thor and Knockout in Invincible season 3. If the world wants more Capes how can we not give it to them?”
"When Robert contacted me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to recolor Capes, I was super excited,” said Mark Englert. “I wasn’t expecting going over the old pages to feel so therapeutic, almost mentoring my younger self to bring the art up to par with rest of the amazing books in the Skybound library. When we made the decision to go all in, really remaster the art beyond the colors, adding backgrounds, fixing up faces or figures, my passion for drawing sequential pages was rekindled and I wanted to keep going. Creating brand new Capes stories with Robert and Benito has been a dream come true!”
BOLT! KID THOR! KNOCK OUT! CAPTAIN COSMIC! CLAIRE VOYANT! BIG BRAIN! COMMANDER CAPITALISM! Welcome to Capes Inc, employers of your favorite superheroes that protect New York City – well, at least when they’re on the clock - from threats like MACHINE HEAD, TITAN...and now are in the crosshairs of an enemy they never expected!
“It's been a real thrill to get to dive back into the Invincible Universe, especially into some of its less-explored corners,” said Benito Cereno. “Any Invincible fan might spend time wondering about the off-panel adventures of Allen the Alien or the Immortal, but it takes a real weirdo to wonder what Battery Bill and Brain Boy were up to during the Viltrumite War. And luckily for me, I get a chance to be that weirdo, officially, together with my old pal, Mark Englert!”
Capes #1 features covers by both Invincible series artists, contributing creator Ryan Ottley and co-creator Cory Walker. The stacked lineup includes a main cover by Ryan Ottley, an open-to-order cover by Mark Englert, a 1:10 incentive variant by Cory Walker, a 1:25 incentive variant by Jahnoy Lindsay, a 1:50 incentive black-and-white variant by Ryan Ottley, and a blank sketch cover.
KARMEN TP, $16.99: If you want to see a master class in drawing a naked, flying girl from every conceivable angle, this is for you!
PORTLAND, Ore. 08/07/2025 — The beloved, New York Public Library heralded, magical realist graphic novel—Karmen by Guillem March (Batman, Catwoman)—will be available in trade paperback this Winter from Image Comics.
Punctuated with emotional depth and dark humor, Karmen is the story of Catalina—a recent suicide—who is taken under the wing of the quirky and mysterious angel, Karmen, on a journey of discovery and reflection.
Karmen is a provocative story that explores grief, suicide, and redemption told through the ethereal, dreamlike artwork that sets a reflective, haunting tone. Perfect for fans of contemplative and propulsive graphic novels like Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá’s Daytripper, Joe Kelly and Ken Niimura’s I Kill Giants, and Scott McCloud’s The Sculptor, films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Shape of Water, or novels like Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones or George Saunders’ Lincoln in the Bardo.
This is a story packed with surprises and metaphysics, tenderness and humor. It dives deep into the topics that matter and is brought to life by the creator behind the acclaimed Monika (Titan Comics) and The Dream (Europe Comics).
"In addition to being an incredible artist, Guillem has a storytelling sensibility all his own, and Karmen is a perfect example of that," said Eric Stephenson, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at Image Comics. "This is thoughtful, probing stuff that will haunt your imagination long after you’ve lingered on the last page, and after selling through the initial printing in hardcover, we’re thrilled to make it available again as a paperback."
Originally published by Dupuis in Belgium as a graphic novel, Karmen was translated and introduced to U.S. audiences in single issue periodical format and then collected into a deluxe hardcover published by Image Comics in 2020 to massive critical acclaim. Image has a reputation for taste-making the best of international comics and bringing them to the U.S. market with markedly high sales turnout. Given that the impressively lucrative launches of Mirka Andolfo’s Unnatural and Mercy took the industry by storm in the past two years, this new offering of similarly sultry appeal and rich art style provides all the ingredients for another success story on American soil.
March is best known for his ongoing, extensive work with DC Comics on Batman, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn and has worked as an artist on several graphic novels including the English editions of Monika with Titan Comics and The Dream with Europe Comics.
LOST FANTASY #5, $4.99: Press release.
PORTLAND, Ore. 08/15/2025 — Bestselling action/adventure series Lost Fantasy by fan-favorite writer Curt Pires (Indigo Children) and artist Luca Casalanguida (Money) will kick off a new story arc—as well as introduce an exciting new character, and tease a forthcoming spin-off series co-written by singer/songwriter and debut comics writer Franklin Jonas—all in the upcoming issue #5 hitting shelves this November from Image Comics.
Lost Fantasy #5 will feature interiors by guest artist Maxi Dall’o.
"I'm so excited to continue to grow Lost Fantasy in collaboration with Image Comics, our amazing retail partners and readers around the world. As a special thank you for making the book a massive success we're launching the next chapter of Lost Fantasy in a big way on November 19 with what we're calling LOST FANTASY DAY," said Pires. "Issue #5 and the volume one trade paperback will be released in stores simultaneously—with issue #5 featuring multiple homage variants to fan-favorite video games as well as a first look at a brand new Lost Fantasy spinoff being co-written by none other than comics superfan and multi hyphenate artist Frankie Jonas. We're excited to continue telling our story and finding new ways to bring people to your shops!"
Following Lost Fantasy #4’s conclusion to Henry’s brutal Montana case, Lost Fantasy #5 sees Henry immediately thrust into solving the murder of one of his closest family members.
Jonas added: "Comics have been my deepest passion since before I even discovered my voice in music. Writing a book was always a dream and having my name attached to such an incredible world as Lost Fantasy is an absolute honor. I’ve been preaching the gospel of Lost Fantasy since day one’s release. When Curt reached out to me about collaborating on this exciting new project, I jumped at the opportunity. Curt is such a massive talent and getting to nestle myself beneath his wing has already been the most inspiring experience. I can’t wait for people to experience what we’ve been cooking up.”
In Lost Fantasy, there’s a magical world that lies beneath ours, and first contact was made over a hundred years ago between the two worlds due to a natural disaster, resulting in a schism that allowed monsters to break through. Since then, secret monster slayers, known as The Great Hunters, have been working with global leaders to police the border and to keep our world safe from the creatures that lurk in the shadows. But something broke through resulting in a mysterious mass killing in Montana, and causing things to shift in a way that will ripple through both worlds. Safety now rests in the hands of rookie monster hunter Henry Blackheart.

DRACULA BOOK II: THE BRIDES GN: I loved the first volume, which I can't find, which means I probably read it online. Well, there's a third one coming, and I'll probably wait for a set-slash-omnibus and get 'em all. There are two press releases, so I banged 'em together.
MILWAUKIE, Ore., (March 10, 2025)—In 1897, Bram Stoker’s classic novel introduced the most famous literary character of all time—the terrifying vampire lord, DRACULA. Now Dark Horse Comics and legendary comic-book creators Matt Wagner (Grendel, Mage) and Kelley Jones (Batman: Red Rain, The Sandman) have teamed up to fill in the tantalizing gaps in the undying centuries of Dracula’s blood-drenched biography in an epic ongoing series of graphic novels. After the resounding runaway success of their first volume DRACULA: BOOK I—THE IMPALER, these legendary masters of the comic-book arts are returning to the story of the count with DRACULA: BOOK II—THE BRIDES, which explores the mysterious identities of the beautiful and seductive sirens that make up Dracula’s sinister harem. Dark Horse Comics will publish the second of four planned volumes in bookstores on November 18, 2025 and in comic shops on November 19, 2025.
“Readers who enjoyed the first volume of our epic exploration into the secret history of the world's most famous literary character—DRACULA: BOOK I--THE IMPALER—will find even more sinister and horrifying thrills in our next chapter, BOOK II—THE BRIDES,” said writer Matt Wagner. “This ongoing project is a real labor of love for both Kelley and me and we couldn't be happier with our results. Whereas BOOK I was a look into Dracula's hellish origins, THE BRIDES is even bigger, badder and bloodier than ever as we unveil the unique and mysterious backstories for this sinister trio of vampiric vixens whose brief appearance in the book is so utterly unforgettable. But this is still Dracula's story...we'll see how the centuries he's spent in his decaying castle lead him closer and closer to the events of Bram Stoker's classic novel. And, after all, how few days go to make up a century."
“The blood of Dracula, and that of his Brides he so lusts for, pumps swiftly through my veins as I draw Matt’s amazing epic of the Impaler’s unlife,” said artist Kelley Jones. “I can easily say nothing like this has been told and nothing like this has been seen before. Dracula can now be shown in his total horrific glory. His dangerous and beautiful wives will make the undead lord reveal more of himself. Each page is one more step to his fate and each volume is one more century he comes closer to us on a cursed journey you must read to believe. Man, I am glad Matt and I get to bring this to you all. It's the book I was born to draw.”
“One of the most eerie and memorable parts of the Dracula legend is the presence of his vamipiric Brides,” said writer Matt Wagner. “In both the novel and the litany of screen adaptations, the appearance of these beautiful and seductive sirens is always an indelible part of the narrative. And, of course, this presents us with yet another dark and beguiling story to be told. Who were these women before they became part of Dracula’s sinister harem? How and why did he come to claim them as his undead paramours? And what role do they ultimately play in his ongoing saga?”
“I was so freaking excited when Matt first told me that the second volume in our DRACULA epic would be titled THE BRIDES,” said artist Kelley Jones. “And, wow… the story he’s written is absolutely chilling! It’s a complex portrait of what, up until now, have only ever been gruesome pin-up versions of these three women. And, make no mistake… this isn’t an attempt to shoehorn a contemporary agenda into the story. One of the things I love about Matt’s scripts is the distinct lack of modernity. These tales all feel completely accurate to the time period in which they’re set.”
“Again, our Dracula is an absolute monster,” added Wagner. “His relationships with anyone are grounded purely in self-interest and conquest. Whenever I’m writing these stories, I’m always picturing how wonderfully Kelley is going to draw these scenes… how he’s going to take my descriptions and transform them into something even more dramatic and terrifying. And every time he delivers visualizations that are even better than I could have imagined. Readers who enjoyed BOOK I—THE IMPALER will be blown away by BOOK II—THE BRIDES. This volume is bigger, badder and bloodier in every way!”
The first volume of Wagner and Jones’s DRACULA saga was a runaway hit, breaking the Top 20 in Kickstarter’s all-time most successful graphic novel campaigns. DRACULA: BOOK II—THE BRIDES presents 120 pages of sexy and sinister story and art, almost 30 pages longer than BOOK I. Wagner and Jones are once joined for this creepy foray into the shadows of Castle Dracula by the stellar talents of José Villarrubia on colors and lettering by Rob Leigh. This campaign is the only source for these beautiful, European-album sized hardcover editions of this book as well as the exceptional rewards tiers to be revealed after launch.
JOHN LE CARRE'S THE CIRCUS: LOSING CONTROL #1 (OF 3), $5.99: I've never read a John Le Carre book, but I've enjoyed the movies made out of them!
Dark Horse Comics presents John le Carré: The Circus—Losing Control, a thrilling tale of espionage that expands the world created by John le Carré in The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, and many other novels, developed in association with The Ink Factory.. Set in the modern day, the three-issue series unites two masters of spy fiction: Harvey Award-winning and New York Times Bestselling author Matt Kindt (Mind MGMT, Spy Superb) and Eisner Award-nominated artist Ibrahim Moustafa (RetroActive, James Bond: Origin). Kindt will write the series with art by Moustafa, colors by Brad Simpson (Summer Shadows, Let This One Be A Devil), and letters by Simon Bowland (The Hunger and the Dusk, Parasomnia).
About John Le Carré: The Circus—Losing Control:
Every day, behind closed doors, the men and women of The Circus are embroiled in high stakes, high-wire acts that the average citizen would never notice. These intelligence officers protect Britain’s most sensitive secrets. At the head of it all is Control: an all-powerful puppet master who decides who goes where, who does what, and sometimes, if necessary, who lives and who dies. But now, Control has vanished.
He doesn’t show up at the office. He misses his meetings. He won’t—or can’t—answer his phone. He is simply nowhere. Control’s assistant Maggie is the only one who knows he’s gone, and with a mole’s identity blown in Moscow, the clock is ticking. A member of “The Mothers” – the unsung fleet of assistants and secretaries who hold the show together behind the scenes of The Circus - Maggie knows every protocol, every password, and every operative—but she has no idea whether something has happened to Control or whether this is part of his plan. Either way, she can’t trust anyone. No-one can know Control is missing. And can she even trust Control?
Secrets within The Circus have a way of unravelling, and Maggie will have to act fast… or risk the walls tumbling down around her.
"Getting asked to contribute a piece to John le Carré's world of Smiley has been one of the greatest honors and responsibilities of my life,” said Kindt. “I wasn't looking for this job but I was called into service. And much like Smiley, my heart is in the right place and hopefully that will be enough."
Nick Harkaway, speaking on behalf of the John le Carré Estate, said: “Look at this! Just look at it! You open the book and Ibrahim’s amazing visuals immediately wrap you in the world. Then you get Matt’s story of lies, damned lies and espionage in a gripping modern iteration of the le Carré mode. You’re in safe hands from page one, and it’s a pleasure to lay The Circus: Losing Control at the feet of readers and see what they make of it all. But speaking as the resident comics nerd in this generation of the Cornwell family: I’m in. Give me more!"
John Le Carré: The Circus—Losing Control #1 (of 3) will be available in comic shops on November 19, 2025 and is now available for pre-order from your local comic shop for $5.99.

NO. 6: BOOM! STUDIOS
HELLO DARKNESS #16, $5.99: Alas, I dropped this one. It wasn’t bad — it just wasn’t as good as the EC (by Oni Press) horror anthologies I was buying, and those are sufficient to scratch the horror-anthology itch. Honestly, the art was usually terrific, especially the genuinely queasy covers/pin-ups by Jenny Frison. (If you think she’s just a good girl artist, think again. The girl is twisted.) But the writing was often iffy.

HARLEY QUINN X ELVIRA #2, $4.99: Tradewaiting, and review-waiting.

ATLAS COMICS LIBRARY VOLUME 7 GIRL COMICS HC, $49.99: Hot diggety, more weird (and probably terrible) crap from the ‘50s I’ve never seen before! Well, the writing’s probably crap. The art, though, will include John Buscema, Mike Sekowsky, Bill Everett, Joe Maneely, Russ Heath and Bernard Krigstein. Did I already say hot diggety?

EROTECH #1 (OF 5) CVR A GEOFFREY KRAWCZYK (MR), $5.99: I have no idea what the interior looks like, but the cover made me laugh. It looks like a '70s underground comic book, only with modern subject matter.

Also worth mentioning (from Top Shelf Productions) is F.A.R.M. System: Rage...
Rich Koslowski’s original F.A.R.M. System graphic novel pulled back the curtain on the superhero community to reveal a satirical blend of pro sports and show business, filled with heroes and hustlers alike. Now the shocking sequel, F.A.R.M. System: Rage, explores the intersection of super-powers, performance-enhancing drugs, and American politics.
Also worth mentioning: WORLD'S FINEST #45:
I haven't been reading Mark Waid's World's Finest, but I couldn't pass a Joker/Luthor team-up. One of these days I hope to take a look at all of the J/L team-ups in order, although I find it nigh impossible to believe that Luthor would ever team up with Joker again after "Rock of Ages."
I can't believe anybody would team up with an erratic madman (who tends to kill his colleagues) like Joker, much less someone as smart as Luthor.
Especially after the Joker tortured Luthor in "Rock of Ages"!
Re: "Nova Centurion #1"... yes, technically Richard Rider is a mercenary now. But that role comes with a lot more nuance and characterization that I would expect. I do not want to give spoilers, but let's just say that greed is not his main motivation.
OK, that sounds better, Luis. I'll give it a try.
