The past weekend there was the Dallas Comic Con, and I managed to make it out there. Their headliner guest for this event was Edward James Olmos. He was only there Saturday, and I never saw the guy once. Not too surprising, since the celebrity guests aren't what draw me. The comic book ones are. I met briefly with Keith Pollard, and had him sign a few comics, including the first appearance of the Black Cat in Amazing Spider-man. Also, new for me was Pat Broderick, and even for the both days I was there I saw him one time, eh, oh well.

I spent a good long while talking to my pal writer/artist Rob Osborne and picked up two copies of his new book Old Man. One for me and one for my brother.

I was pleases to see the return of the "sets".Dealers putting together storylines that you could buy a a set. That way no worries of finding 5 issues of a 6 part story, and not being able to find that last issue to complete. Some went a little over board with it. While I am interested in checking out Mighty Avengers, I don't wanna plot down $100 for the entire run. (I did put together the first arc on my own for $6).

My only complaint is the same one I usually have: they have outgrown the facility they hold it. Too crowded and not enough parking. I spent literally 10 minutes looking for a spot on Saturday. I got their early on Sunday.

Some deals I got:
$4 trades: Crisis on Multiple Earths Vol2. & 3, and
1/2 Price trades:
Doom Patrol Archives vol.1 -  The dealer should write Commander Benson a "thank you" note. I probably wouln't have picked it up if it weren't for his recent articles on them
Essential Showcase
Marvel Visionaries: Jim Steranko & Gil Kane
& a few more
Plus a whole mess of $1 and 50¢ comics.
