  • Heh, I've sold most of my comics on ebay over the last few years but still have Hex #1 along with some other odds and ends. I remember being pretty excited about that first issue back in '85 but I must not have been too impressed because I never picked up any others. I wonder why they chose those three issues for download.
  • Is this the one where he is in the future?

Yes, IIRC the regular Jonah Hex book had recently been canceled and they replaced it with Hex. I guess it was an attempt to give the character new life but it really seemed more like one of the pre-implosion disaster titles like Hercules Unbound or Kamandi. I have a vague memory of reading a Hex story that was drawn by Keith Giffen when he was in his super-abstract phase and just being really confused.
  • I don't think I've read any issues of Hex, but he did make a cameo in a Legion issue from around that time as the Time Bubble passed through his era.

From the covers, at least, Hex looked like DC's attempt at Mad Max. Which didn't appeal to me then... but kind of sounds fantastic to me now.
