I see the Sand Superman, for example, from the early 1970s Julius Schwarz/Denny O'Neil Super-era. And on Superboy, you see four "supermen" like after the Death of Superman storyline -- the clone, the cyborg, etc. Hal Jordan seems to have been added to Jack Kirby's Source Wall. There's Constantine with the Dr. Fate helmet, and Black Canary jumping out of a Lazarus Pit. Dick Grayson, for some reason, is playing dress-up as Red Star of the Silver Age Teen Titans continuity. And doesn't the Cree chick in Justice League United look a lot like Dawnstar of the Legion of Super-Heroes?

If Harley Quinn is President they must have given young fanboys the vote.
I just assumed that in The New 52, it's possible for popular characters to kill everybody between them and the Oval Office, and all the superheroes who could stop are mysteriously absent on space missions.
