Ring out the old, ring in the DCnu, everybody!  Are we off to a good start? Well....

Flashpoint #5

*Okay, has the revelation of how Flashpoint really happened been hinted at anywhere else? This really seems out of the blue to me.

*Thomas Wayne is hardcore.  Has he been reading Geoff Johns comics in the Flashpoint universe?

*I would have liked it if the members of the Resistance had been identified.  I didn't read the Lois Lane spinoff, so I have no clue who some of these people are.

*The Enchantress is plain nuts.  Just the way she ought to be.

*Yay, Skinny Kal!

*The "Fix" to the Flashpoint Universe is the kind of outlandish, wacky solution that can only happen in comics.  I love it.

*OK, can we call a moratorium on having the end of event books set up yet another event?

*Now Barry knows how the Psycho-Pirate felt...

*Barry Allen, Speedy Delivery! Message for the Batman!

*Batman does something I thought I'd never see him do again.

Andy Kubert brings the goods, as usual.  The writing is OK.  Overall, #5 was good, but not great.

Justice League #1

*Lee and Williams do some purty pictures together.

*Is that a rocker launcher on your wrist, or are you happy to see me?

*The more I see the new Bat-armor suit, the more I like it. It suits him.  GL's new look...not so much.

*Page 14: "Uh huh." Made me smile.

*Page 16: Can't we all just get along?

*"I want the machine that goes 'Ping!'"

*Well, we know who the big bad is gonna be.  Good choice, IMO. "(name redacted)? What is that? A band?"

*It looks like this is the origin of not only the League, but of...well, that would be telling.

*Is there a Flashpoint crossover on page 20?

*Oh, Hal, nice to see you're still cocky in the DCnU.

Page 26:  Another costume that's growing on me. Nice full page shot.

This is just part one, of course, so it's mainly sefup.  It's not as wow-inducing as I wanted, but like Flashpoint #5, it's not bad.  The real test will be whether how my 15-year-old son likes these, especially JL #1.

Whaddya you think?  No spoilers, please.

  • You kept it so spoiler-free, I have no idea what you're talking about :-)

  • Dang. Did my job too well. :)
  • ...I went to my LCS this ayem , to see if there was any hub-bub...bub .

no particular display , no massive amount of space dedicated to it...Just one , standard , space in the rack space dedicated to JL#1 , though they did have a lot of copies...Next to it , THREE spaces were dedicated to FP #5 !!!!!!!!!!! So...........

Since I believe those are the only DCU titles shipping this week , there were some empty spaces in the store's " new stuff " rack...

  • ...There doesn't appear to be a Wikipedia spoiler of FP #5 up yet !!!!!!!!!!!

      Tsk tsk .

Where's our pioneer spoiling ingeneuity gone ???

  • I'd like to hear what your 15 year old son makes of JL#1, Don.  According to DC's line on the reboot, it's more pertinant than what us old duffers think.  Does he read many comics?

  • Hi Figs!

He does read comics, but not as many as me.  Captain America is his favorite superhero, but he also reads a lot of manga and non-superhero stuff.  I just let him start reading The Walking Dead after he and I finished the first season of the TV show.
