Holy crap!  In Holly's words, "So...they really went there, huh?".  Not only is James Gordon Jr mentally ill...he's a super crazy, sadistic killer.  Only no one knows yet.

  • There's a James Gordon, Jr.?
  • He was last seen as an infant in Batman Year One.  Scott Snyder brought him back recently as an adult.  It kinda blows the whole "Batman has only been operating in Gotham for ten years" thing.
  • Ah.
  • Are they doing this because they know, come September, it's all being erased?  Maybe I'm just becoming too cynical in my old age.
  • Not too much of a shock as even Babs got the creeps around him.

Though Commissioner Gordon's son was always named Tony.

  • He was James Jr in Year One.  The Batman storylines will continue after the reboot without changes...that's the benefit of selling well.
  • Tony Gordon was erased in Crisis on Infinite Earths.
  • September isn't a reboot, from what I hear. They are just restarting their whole line with #1's. DC states that "important" things will remain in continuity, whatever that means.

It means, I imagine, that sooner or later everything will be back in continuity.
  • Of course, "important" continuity means whatever they need to tell their particular story. In Brightest Night Aftermath: The Search for Swamp Thing #1, Batman doesn't know who John Constantine is, even though they met in Swamp Thing #49 or 50 and that was an important story!
