I loved it.
I didn't think it was as amazing as THK but to be fair it didn't have that sort of element of surprise that the earlier one did, because we were expecting so much. It's easy to be let down with so much expectation flying around and to be honest I expected it to be a lot more grim and depressing that it turned out to be so that was good. I also found Catwoman in the trailer to be supremely not interesting, but I was very impressed that she worked really well in the movie. Bane was not particularly my cup of tea but that being said he was ok. The Bat was pretty cool, as was the Batpod - I don't remember it being able to change/reverse direction like that but, whatever, I liked it. In general I was very interested to see if the movie could ever live up to all the expectation and I have to say if not for the hype I think I might have liked it more. I was very glad to see it but I wasn't blown away.
One thing I realized is that in these movies one never comes away with Batman as having any continuity as a crime fighter. He seems to always sort of appear and then disappear in big sort of crisis, and as often as not he loses. The sort of day to day role as "crime fighter" never seemed to come across in any of these movies from Tim Burton on. Interesting that this seems to be the take on it. Only the Adam West Batman felt like he had a continuous and functioning "job". Also I don't recall the 'detective' aspect being particularly taken advantage of in these films. Maybe that would be something good for the next version.

Certain rumors and speculations regarding the casting turned out to be true. In one case it made me think, "well ok there we go" and in another I just thought it was a bit "cute".
Also I have to say that the final "save" of the city was surprisingly similar to that of the Avengers.
And the final ending coda I thought was sweet. No big deal or surprise (they did set it up beforehand) but a nice way to wrap it up.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Bane was much better than I expected (very low expectations here), and I felt like a chump for not seeing the twist with one of the main characters coming (and no, I don't mean with Detective Blake, that was heavily telegraphed).
I wonder if there is any plans to continue the franchise or do a reset, like with Spidey. This series simply makes too much money for this to be the last Batman movie, even though it's the last Nolan Batman.
I wish we could get a Batman movie where he is "the world's greatest detective". He used a bit of detective skills in this one, but I'd love to see more.
What I thought about the ending was that Nolan incorporated "Sometimes you cannot get rid of a bomb" into his movie.

Wow, I wasn't interested in this picture until I read that sentence.
