I saw , bought same , this MEGAMIND - BRILLIANTLY BRILLIANT,  semi-book/semi-prestige format ( Actually , it's fairly smaller than a standard comic book . ) pub to-day .

I'd seen and gotten #s 2 and 3 of the standard-format funny book mini-series from , as is this $5.99 , w/48 story pages , pfer , Ape Comics...I've been interested to see Dreamworks Animation definitely trying to leverage/expand their animation concepts into funnybooks as of late .

   Dreamworks tends , I think , to be looked down on as the " mere " Hollywood also-ran in the present-day computer animation era , below " brillaint " Silicon Valley/New Age-y/Hawiian shirt-wearing Pixar , I guess .

I will grant that DA's film's are rather more " plodding " , perhaps...Tend to follow the standard " animated film " formula more , and ( As I'll get to ) are put tgether a little more " factory "-y , I suppose - Tho , frankly , I doubt that Pixar is all THAT an embedment of folks taking time out frequently from completing the animation to lengthily sniff shamrocks beneath trees ! - But , uh , I think they'e ( Often ) solid . Real good .

Well-done , Sort of like an All-American department store basement cafeteria meal , which is what I'd thought about Famous Studios ( Harvey/post-Max Fleisher Fleisher ) 's out put as well .

I'll espec. concentrate on two DA franchises here , Megamind and MONSTERS VS. ALIENS , the latter of which having not made it to - at least " proper " comics-  as of yet - ???

  • Ther'es a THE PENGUINS FROM MADAGASCAR comic book now , but as I've seen ( Essentially ) nothing of its TV series , I've only read the FCBD ish !

Oddly enuff , for all my enthusing about DA , I've never seen any of their " Mickey " franchise - the SHREK series . Four features , a Puss In Boots spin-off , I dunno how many DTVs/TV specials , a B'Way musical - nothing !

      Obviously , I'm not a believer...Almost ???

  • ...I saw MONSTERS VS. ALIENS again on FX TV recently , during Thanksgiving time .

      I saw at CVS a DTV " Halloween Special " sort of MVA ( I assume ) featurette/TV-special length production .

      Are there any others ?

  • ...This reminds me that I saw RIO 2 , I think " from " Dreamworks but possibly an independent production they picked up?? , recently .

There was also a short that appeared to be a set-up for a forthcoming feature where Steve Martin voices the leader of an alien race who/m , after searching througfh the galazy for ages , and finding no home planet for their race , finds a new planet that appears friendly...Uh huh . Earth .

I assume that it was at least a " first eight pages/FCBD set-up " story , not just the actual feature's first reel .
