Though the names are the same they really are working hard to make the characters different.
I think there is a bit more room for death and destruction on this alternate Earth, permanent and lasting I mean, not blow up something and have it back in shape in two or three issues.
At least some of the characters are really staying dead.
We start out with the latest Flash being tortured by Beguiler and while he's taking the pain he's also taunting her about her looks. Almost like the old style Spiderman. Beguiler is interupted by Bedlam who reports that the squad sent to Gotham is all gone, but Bedlam is wrong. Green Lantern saved himself and Hawkgirl and two of the parademons in a bubble and lets them go so that he can follow them to the Flash. Batman and the others reach Amazonia, but Red Arrow is dead and Batman yells at Val who feels guilty but Jimmy Olsen yells at Batman, calling him by the real name of Thomas Wayne and letting him know that negativity is not going to help. I gotta wonder about the level of incompetence shown by world governments, Jimmy and the others were locked up and they would have been the most helpful. Is there ever any such thing as competent government in comic books?
Green Lantern and Hawkgirl do rescue Flash and GL blasts Beguiler. While GL wants to stay and battle the parademons Kendra convinces him that drawing them into a trap is the best way to go. They fly off and she contacts Batman.
Back in Amazonia Val pulls off his hoodie and reveals the S logo on his shirt.

I really loved this issue of Earth 2. Jimmy's great, and I think I'm really going to like Val, too. And Jay standing up to Beguiler, even though we later see the toll it took on him, was wonderful too.
