  • What is the circulation on the Sonic titles? I am always amazed they exist, and are among the highest "numbered" titles on the stands now.

That being said, this is a decent looking set of pages. Solid art, good action, quality inking and color too.

  • I don't know what the numbers are, but it appears to do well for Archie -- there's at least two ongoing titles, and they keep trying to capture that lightning in a bottle again with titles like Mega Man.
  • They do most of their sales outside of the direct market as I understand it, so Sonic's sales aren't high on the sales charts.
  • I bought this issue yesterday, read it and have to say that I found it to be good. Really good, actually. Solid art all the way, good action and some really interesting characters. For example there's this frog in it, called Flying Frog, and he's really quite creepy. He actually reminded me of a better version of the "Secret Wars"-era Klaw.

It also helped that it wasn't a comic about Sonic, but about Scourge, the anti-Sonic. I'm not saying Sonic is a bad character or anything, but since it's a kids comic about a bad guy it makes it a little more interesting.

I will be grabbing some more of these for sure.

  • A few years ago when I read up on the franchise I was struck by how much like superhero fans Sonic fans were. They cared tremendously about the series, had very strong feelings about the stories, and were hoping that Ian Flynn - it was around the time he became the writer - would be good for the title.
