If you are in the city...then make sure you get to walk all over Old San Juan, and make sure to wander off the main tourist streets, to really appreciate the cobblestone beauty, find the Bombonera for Good PR coffee and pastries. Also wander into El Morro or San Cristobal fortress. Where are staying the night? Because you should take a drive up to Piñones (a nature preserve by the airport, just up the road from Isla Verde) for beautiful ocean views and nice cheap seaside restaurants). If you rather get out of the city, go up to El Yunque and have either lunch or dinner at one of the roadside stands outside the El luquillo public beach, just past the turn off up to the Rainforest....you can find me on Facebook as either anacoqui or Ana Canino Fluit, or send me message if you want more info. You can also try to visit Metro Comics in San Patricio, but only recommend that if you had tons of time to kill since it will surely mean getting into a huge traffic jam.</</body>

  • Thanks, Ana! I was sure I could count on you.

Wandering Old San Juan and visiting El Morro was pretty much my plan unless someone suggested something else, so I'm glad to here I was on the right track. I'll make a point to check out the Bombonera.

    Where are staying the night?

The El San Juan. Business trip -- company's paying for it.

  • That is a great hotel...really great location. Isla Verde is a big tourist/residential condo strip, but the beach is beautiful if very busy. My family has the family burial plot up the block from your hotel that beach...and my mom own a condo down the other side of the block. Your location means Pinones and the boardwalk there is very close by. Have great time! And come down again some other time with the fam. Oh and here is a link to the Bombonera
When we spend our PR time in we don't do much time in city (I grew up in the big sprawling metroplex...and I am done with its traffic jams)...we rather get out of town and our apt in MaunaboSunset
    Can you blame me?

Nope, that's gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. If I can squeeze it in, I'm gonna take a stroll up that beach, too.

I think this is definitiely on my "bring the fam" list. And next time, I want to get out of the city and see some countryside.
  • ... the Bombonera for Good PR coffee and pastries.

    Good coffee, good pastries.

Also wander into El Morro or San Cristobal fortress.

Wandered around both, and took your advice and wandered the side streets. I really enjoyed walking around Old San Juan.

    Thanks, Ana!
