They are currently looking for writers and state that it will not be directly connected to the TV series ... much like the 60s Dalek movies.
Hope and dread in equal measures here...

I'll believe it when I see it.
I could completely get behind that cast, Doc.
(I was going to say "I'm not sure Ferguson has the acting chops," but then I remembered that he did a bang-up voice-acting job in How to Train Your Dragon.)
A different approach perhaps but how about Daniel Radcliffe as the Doctor, reincarnating younger than before? He can do quirky, comedic and intense. Daniel Craig or Alan Cummings as the bad guy to give it some depth and for an American touch, Victoria Justice as the Doctor's lovely companion.
I kept hoping one day they'd do a DW movie with Ian Richardson (or Geoffrey Bayldon) where they'd re-tell on a MUCH bigger budget (and with a MUCH tighter script) the first 11 episodes ("An Unearthly Child" and "The Daleks"), then do a sequel where they'd redo the next 8 episodes ("Inside The Spaceship" and "Marco Polo"). But Richardson passed away, and Bayldon may be getting too old by now as well... I'm sure "Marco Polo" could really benefit from a redo, especially as all 6 episodes of it have been missing since the mid-70's!
I suppose it would have to be Americanized.
Well, not to that extreme.....
