Hulk Hogan-#23!!!!!

The WWE released its DVD set of the 50 greatest wrestlers of all time. Now I know Hulk Hogan no longer works for the WWE but he was #23! The man who made pro wrestling the multimedia entity it is now! The reason why Vince McMahon is a billionaire! I don't know how many of you follow or have followed wrestling but #23! C'mon!

  • Yeah. That's just wrong. To non-fans like me, he is still the face of wrestling.
  • Now I'm not trying to disparage any of the wrestlers on the list. They are all great but look who is ranked ahead of Hogan: #7 Rick Steamboat; #10 Roddy Piper; #14 Randy Savage (who appears to be mending his fences with WWE); #15 Curt Henning and #22 Terry Funk. All great and accomplished, to be sure but Hogan's first WWE, oh the heck with it, WWF championship reign was four years! Today they're lucky to get four months. Sure it was a different time but some people divide wrestling history simply as Pre-Hogan, the Hogan Era and the Post-Hogan. Even at the height of Hulkamania, the WWF tried to duplicate his success with Savage, the Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger, Sid Justice/Viscious and Diesel (Kevin Nash). It never worked.

There are new stars today like John Cena and Randy Orton, who are compelling and dynamic but to not even put Hulk Hogan in the Top Ten, it's an outrage, a scandal! He deserves better!

  • Well, I've seen alot of these wrestling retrospectives, and the tone they take almost always depends on whether a given wrestler is "on the outs" with Vince or not. I'm not saying it's right, but it;s not surprising.
