Yesterday, I was amused at a couple of interviews, one in sports and the other in entertainment, in which the interviewee immediately contradicted themselves by saying they were going to do something and then doing the exact opposite. Tom Coughlin, coach of the New York Giants: "As head coach, I take full and complete responsibility. I told him to kick the punt out of bounds and he didn't do it"-- taking full and complete responsibility for blaming someone else. NaOnka, Survivor contestant, tooting her own horn by saying: "I"m not trying to toot my own horn but I'm the smartest person in this game." There was also another classic instance of self-delusion as NaOnka said, "At least I kept a smile on my face the whole time I played" while the producers showed highlights of her scowling, crying and yelling at other players.

  • NaOnka said that she believed that she could have won Survivor, if she felt like actually finishing it. Her treatment of the other players, particularly Kelly B. (who had an artifucial leg) and Fabio (who won the whole thing) was cringe-worthy, even though she thinks that she played an upbeat game! And then she quit! And she's a teacher!

    The mind truly boggles!

  • During the reunion show, Jeff Probst mentioned that some parents were asking the school to fire her.
