In the Skipper's JSA thread, Commander Benson recently posted regarding his objections to various elements of Darwyn Cooke's The New Frontier. He mentioned certain errors regarding military procedures and uniforms that he has encountered in comics over the years, errors which could have been avoided had the authors done a modicum of research, something which is particularly easy in the internet age.

This reminded me indirectly of something that has bugged me over the years. As any of you that knows me well is aware, I am both figuratively and literally a huge Doctor Who fan. As such, I have spent a fair amount of time watching YouTube videos related to the series. There exists a subgenre of such videos in which creators present their own "fan-made" versions of the program's opening credits. This tends to intensify when a new actor takes over the role. It also happened a lot at the time of the show's fiftieth anniversary, when fans would present efforts that listed all of the actors that had played the role over the years.  Some of them are quite impressive, and obviously involved a great deal of effort and skill. One such fan-made video came to the attention of then showrunner Steven Moffat, who was so impressed that he contacted the fan, and a version of the fan's effort became the opening credits sequence for Peter Capaldi's years in the title role.

Anyway,  my point is that I've seen any number of such efforts where the creator spells one or more of the actors' names wrong. Particular "favorites" include "John Pertwee" instead of "Jon", and  "Peter Davidson" instead of "Davison". When I encounter such videos, I always think "What a shame! You put so much effort and creativity into this, and you didn't take the few minutes it would have taken to make sure that you were spelling the names right!"

Anyway, what are things like this that bug you?
