I bought a MAD magazine one-shot Harry Potter " salute/cash-in " , a magazine reprinti ng all of Mad's previous Harry Potter movie salutes and some more HP pieces aside and , too , a new parody of the just-out last movie in the cinemataHarry .
The odd thing is I've never read any of the Harry books nor seen the movies !
Well...when the last book came out I did satisfy my spoil curiosity on Wikipedia re:
what the exact ending was .
And , recently I have had occasion to wait in a waiting room where the inroom monitor has shown the first movie !!
I did pick it up kind of thinki ng that it was the new regular issue , but , by the time I got to the counter I think I knew??
If nothing else , perhaps I look a little Hagid-y , at least in the beard , although with more red !
The very first HP movie parody is by Mort Drucker and is in black and white , I suppose Mad moved more heavily towards that/Drucker , I assume , retired shortly after that ?
How-times-have-changed dialogue usages...Jokes about Ross Perot and the TV series BECKER . Really !!!!!!!!!...

Well, the Harry Potter movies have been around for a decade!
I just bought this today and yes, I love it when MAD does reprint entire series in one book! I only read the first parody so far and was amazed that the "storyholes" that they mocked actually were addressed/explained in later books. Also since HP were put out by Warner Bros, MAD must have had a sneak peek just as they did for Green Lantern and the other DC hero-films!
I still consider it beyond reason why DC never put out a Harry Potter comic. Yes, yes, Tim Hunter. I know but get over it! J.K. Rowling did a better job with her boy-wizard than DC did with their's!
"Burn him! He's a witch!"
"We're all witches, stupid!"
