  • Bleeding Cool reports that the Uncanny X-Men team is Emma (shown), Cyclops, Magneto, Juggernaut (Peter Rasputin), Magik and Danger. It's a rumor site, but they seem to have the actual artwork.

That means Cyclops's team is entirely composed of former villains. I had guessed that would be the case earlier -- as they seem to be going out of their way to write Cyclops as having "fallen" in some fashion -- but didn't want to appear to be a cynic by saying so.

  • Piotr is the new Juggernaut? Who...? What...? How...? WHY?!?
  • I think it happened during the Fear itself event

  • The X-Men couldn't stop the Fear Itself Juggernaut, who was coming to wipe out San Francisco, so a team followed Magik to Cyttorak's realm, where she told the demon that his avatar on earth was serving another master. He took a peek, and sure enough, Juggie was all Asgarded-out, leaving Futhark in his footprints and whatnot. So Cyttorak decided to give Magik the Juggernaut power, but Peter finagled to take it instead to protect her. So, yep, he's the new Juggernaut.
  • That's actually rather clever. Thanks for the summary, Cap.
  • More shocking to me is how small Storm is on the cover of (Adjective-less) X-Men #20! Is she no longer a major player in the X-verse?
  • More likely her size is a design decision. Notice that each of the covers has a flying female -- necessarily smaller and in the background, to avoid overshadowing whoever the team leader is, played front, center and largest.

I don't know this for a fact, but given how consistent the pattern is, I'd guess Storm was sized the way she was to match the other covers, not to reflect her relative importance on the team.

  • I think it's a little bit of both.  Storm's profile in the X-Men was greatly reduced when she married Black Panther.  She became part of that title instead and made only sporadic appearances in the X-Men.  She's maintained a presence in Astonishing X-Men but has had long absences in the other titles.  Perhaps she'll resume an important role with the new line-up.
