  • My first impressions:

    * Note that Iron Man is front and center in both scenes, instead of, say, Spider-Man.

    * No X-Men. Only one FF member (The Thing), unless that fiery guy is the Human Torch, instead of Sunspot (which is who he looks like to me).

    * Still two Captain Americas (Steve's looking pretty buff for his age.)

    * Multiple Spider-Men and Spider-Women.

    * Old Man wolverine and X-23. (As I expected.)

    * Still got female Thor, with Unworthy Odinson not in sight.

    * Dr. Strange with a battle-axe?!??

  • This reminds me of the one thing that bugged me about the movie Winter Soldier. Steve went to visit Peggy Carter in the hospital, and Peggy Carter was clearly the original actress with make-up to look like an old woman, but it clearly was not an old woman. They have apparently never seen an actual old woman. Just get an actual old woman to play her!

  • "Scorecards! Scorecards here! Can't tell your All New, All Different Marvel characters apart without a scorecard! Heck, we CAN'T!"

  • Could this be the Ultimate Universe? Or a version of the same intended for pre-adolescent and adolescent readers?

  • So long as they don't mess up Ms. Marvel,. Spider-Gwen or Squirrel Girl, I don't care what they do with the rest of them.

  • Do you think Spider-Woman, Spider-Gwen and Silk have viable futures?

    At the same time?

  • I have no idea who several of these are.

    Why did they make Hyperion's costume grey instead of red? Is he meant to be a very negative or "gritty" character? I see also that Daredevil is in black. What's the point in having more color choices than in the old days of comics if everybody is eventually going to end up black and grey? Does anyone else think the Vision looks way too much like Mr. Miracle?

    If they have Dr. Strange a battleaxe thinking it makes him look like an rpg player, they really don't know anything about rpgs. Any D&D fan will immediately tell you (quite loudly and sarcastically) that wizards can only use the simplest and least damaging weapons. Quarterstaffs, daggers, darts. Axes are absolutely out. They only recently changed the rules so that they can use crossbows. At least he's not wearing armor.

  • "Marvel is going to be presenting fans new #1's for every title." Because of course we've been complaining that too many comics have reached the double digits these days. Yay! Another new Spider-Man#1! They must have made enough of those by now to fill an entire omnibus.

    "This is a brand new beginning that honors our past 76 years, yet takes a bold step with daring, and accessible, entry points." In other words let's throw out our past 76 years and make everything new, modern, and "edgy" to attract a new audience that's shown they have no interest in comics whatsoever, and expect the fans that have stayed with us while we were struggling to forget everything they knew and go along with whatever we think is cool now.

    If "Marvel NOW!" was really "the most successful comics industry program of this century" then why are they tossing it aside so soon for an "All-New All-Different Marvel"?

    "Will have a hand in crafting an all-new and all-different Marvel Universe." What exactly was wrong with the all-old and all-same Marvel Universe that they want to get rid of it?

    Isn't X-23 an X-Men character and thus the movie rights belong to Fox? How many of the changes they're making to their universe are just to "teach Fox a lesson" for not giving their characters back?

  • That's a good question, but I wouldn't bet against it. The industry has taken a swing toward more female-led series, which either means that there are more women buying comics, more men who are OK with female leads, or both. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

    Add "... in the Danger Room" and you've invented Marvel Clue.
