Missing Starman Found

I was both pleased and excited to discover that “The Man Who Ended Batman’s Career” (the visual inspiration for the Starman of 1951) from Detective Comics #247 (and reprinted in Batman Annual #4) was reprinted again in the DC Comics Classics Library edition of Batman Annuals Vol. 2 released yesterday. We had discussed the availability of this story in 2005’s Starman discussion, but it had completely slipped my mind and this story came as a complete surprise! It’s also significant to me because one of my earliest issues of Batman from when I was a kid was #255 (a 100-Page Super-Spectacular!) which featured Professor Milo in the lead story, and “The Man Who Ended Batman’s Career” is his first appearance. Oddly (or perhaps not), Batman #255 also reprinted “The First Batman” which was also reprinted in Batman Annual #4! I will undoubtedly have more to say about the latest addition to the DC Comics Classics Library series after I’ve had a chance to read it, but I was so thrilled to see “The Man Who Ended Batman’s Career” I couldn’t wait to post!
