Update from yesterday’s disaster
Peter has an appointment next Thursday because the doctor had a “cancellation “.
Apparently I finally lit the right fire under the right person.

NOPE
Peter’s appointment was canceled due to transportation issues.
I am going to be over here in a ball

(This is a followup to this morning's update)
(I think she is referring to the new appointment. I became familiar with "medical transport," which is not by ambulance, during Gayle's illness. He has to be transported from the rehab facility to the doctor's office.)

Ok let’s try this again
Peter has an appointment tomorrow with the neurologist 9/21/2023. I think every thing is in place to make this happen
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(I didn't post the last update because there was a misunderstanding involving transporting Peter to the appointment.)
We did see the neurologist.
The Neurology appointment did happen yesterday (9/21/23)
We have hope again.
It is not impossible for Peter to come back home.
It will take a lot of work on both our parts to get him to that point.
On my side getting the house ready and changing some of the features which is going to be what I am doing from now to the end of the year.
He has the hope of walking again and even, please-please-please, steps. He must make that happen because his brain still could tell his legs what to do. Now he must do the mind body connection.
His memory is shaky however it is coming back. Sorry if he doesn’t recognize you but brain. This is both long- and short-term memory.
He is Peter. This was my biggest fear. He is now his joke cracking, story-telling self and the improvements continue every day.
We are not out of the woods however your help has kept me sane.
I have the budget to a squeak. Anything new and we are toast.
Help me get him home.
I finally received the news I was hoping not to receive
Peter has his 3rd MRSA bacterial infection. This is only the ones we have medical proof on
He is being cared for by his dialysis center and his rehab center. If it gets worse, then he will have to go back to the hospital
Keep him in your thoughts.

I am Job no really that is who I am identifying with right now.
Peter is recovering nicely from the last infection. His blood work, not perfect, is much better than it was. Even the white cell count is going the right direction. He does need Iron infusions and that I can deal with.
Caroline's semester is going well. She is working on developing a scene from "Pulling Up Stakes" for her project.
Me? I was relaxed until the house insurance company informed me that I will have no more coverage for the house as of November because they did their inspection that they do every couple of years and told me that both roofs have to be re-shingled but more likely replaced due to the age of the asphalt shingles and that the house, which is over 100 years old, is covered in cedar which is not considered a good base for a roof anymore.
I am trying to figure out how I am going to raise the 30,000 to 60,000 it is going to cost me for this project. On the plus side, the roof will be under warrantee for twenty five years and I won't have to worry about it.
I am looking at a loan but anything I get will be underwater because we have credit but the medical bills and the like tanked it.
I am going though the collectables and seeing what might fetch me the most cash right now. But I know if I don't find the audience that wants the object, it is going to go under priced
Anyone have any ideas?
If anyone wants to tell others what is going on, feel free.
(My addition: hopefully, the following applies to everyone reading this, to the best of their ability)
Kathleen sent you a thank you for donating to Peter David Fund
Hello,
I have been very bad at following this up but know that I have every one of you in my mind.
Your generous help has gone above and beyond. Everywhere I go, I praise y'all for all your help which allows me to concentrate on Peter.
Peter is getting better but it is going to be a longer haul than we thought. He is working and relearning how to make his feet and legs move so he can walk. Heck we even see steps in his future.
He wants me to tell you that he missing interacting with fans and friends. He is lonely. I go over as much as I can but I am one person.
Again THANK YOU from the bottoms of our heart. You are the kind of people I want to have dinner with.

Coming to you hat in hand.
I must replace the roof to get our house insured. It is very expensive.
I managed to scrape together the first half between selling some artwork that was hard to part with, a car, my parents who are in their mid-80s and on a fixed income, collectibles were sold, and Peter did a signing.
I figured that I could get a personal loan for 20,000 based on my credit which is good.
I have met with three banks, and they will not lend me the money. They tried to push me towards companies that are nothing short of usury.
Here I am with hat in hand asking for help again.
I said I was the modern Job, but I didn’t expect my bad luck to continue this far.
If you can spread the word to others who are fans of Peter’s, I would appreciate it.
I have exactly a week to get this money together.
I thought that we had money incoming that would have gone a long way to helping me, but it has vanished into the ether and medical and household bills that I have been trying to get a leg up on.
He told me that he appreciates each and every one of you and he is in debt to you that he cannot hope to repay.
Peter is who I am fighting hard for. I want him to be well and come home. I just want him to have a home to come back you. I have been fighting to get the best care I can get him. I fought for eight months to get him to a neurologist, which should have been done at the six-month point. I have fought for wound care. I have fought for people seeing him as Peter and not another client that brings money into the facility. I keep fighting as tired as I am right now body and soul. I will not let him down.
Here are some photos of Peter at his latest signing on Monday. He is getting better but it is a slow process that is eating me from within.
Peter is back in the hospital with yet another infection. This one was tricker because it was at his dialysis catheter site and in his blood. There was no infection in or around his heart which was great news.
They pulled the catheter to test it for any additional bacteria.
While in the hospital, he started to have blood pressure problems. He stabilized and they inserted a new catheter.
On Friday he was scheduled for a medical procedure to create a fistula in his right arm so they could remove the cardiac catheter to lessen the chance of infection.
During the procedure to put him under, his blood pressure dropped like a rock. At no point was he without a pulse or blood pressure but they were in the basement.
He is in ICU right now. They have him on a drug to increase his BP that can only be given there.
There are continuing concerns about his white cell count creeping up and red cell down.
I am expecting him to surprise us all because he has for over a year now.
Yes, we can use thoughts and prayers and gratefully accept them. Right now, we really appreciate them.
