If you were trying to put a topical reference to the " SPIDER-MAN " musical into a new recording/performance of Richard Rogers & Lorenz Hart's song1920s song " MANHATTAN " where earlier versions have references to:

1920s much-disliked by the self-described ones with good taste/" cultural elite " long-running straight play " ABIE'S IRISH ROSE " (I suppose the very first presentation of it) .

Long-running 1950s musical " MY FAIR LADY " (50s?? Dinah Washington recording)

How would you do it ?????????

  • ...A 1965 version on YT by Ella Fitzgerald makes it a reference to the film version of " MY FAIR LADY " !!

  • ...Two different Diana Ross/Supremes versions drop the line entirely !!!!!!!!!

      Hmph . Parvneus ! (Sp??).

  • ...The Spider-Man show/is really one that makes_you_feeelll/The actors' backs some day/may heealll/Don't squeal !  "

      " The Spider-Man show/is really high-flying , they say/It could make back its pay/Somedaayyyy.... !

( Iwas   assuming here that " nut " can mean " investment in a show " as well as " weekly minimum " .then decided that , though maybe not super-literally correct , " pay might be recognizable/scan & rhyme better . )

  • ...More..........." The Spider-Man show/is really swinging/They all say/Someone we know might go/One day..." .

Playing upon ( Presumed . ) NY'ers snobbery about " an uncool musical for tourists " ! Maybe that would go over at a cabaret boite of some kind...
