No one I’d ever heard of before I bought the collection (Mike Arens, Pete Alvardo, and Tom, Chuck, and Bob McKimson ). The likeness of Roy Rogers is spot-on, but it’s not dynamic and the stories themselves are lackluster, too. In a word: "boring."
Thanks, Jeff. Lambiek.net has pages on Mike Arens and Tom McKimson. Apparently they both had animation backgrounds, and (to judge by the examples shown) were strong funny animal artists.
