This September 15th and 18th, Fathom Events is putting on 40th Anniversary showings of STAR TREK:THE MOTION PICTURE continent-wide in various muliplexes.
An article in alt-weekly SF WEEKLY (yes, they still exist!)
writes about it (Can't link, I sowwy) attempts to build up the tending-towards-being-unloved film's rep - and engages in some interesting nostalgia. How do you think the film might rank next to Ang Lee's Hulk film as a " Is it a mistake to give a genre film to a ' high-end middlebrow ' director? " , discussion-starter? BTW: looking it up on the Web just now, I also found a 2000 SF Weekly article about the release of an " improved " Director's Cut DVD of ST:TMP!
