Okay. You’ve read the recent Crime Does Not Pay collection. But what’s next? Well, what were the prolific team of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby doing in the crime genre at this time? CDNP had been around since ‘41, predating even EC’s contributions to the genre. Often innovators, even when Simon and Kirby were following a trend they still managed to put their own unique stamp on a genre, and that is the case here. Far less lurid than Lev Gleason’s CDNP, S&K’s contributions collected in this 320 page volume are presented chronologically, mostly from 1947-48, with one story from 1949, one from 1954 and one from 1955. The introduction is written by Max Allan Collins and the volume includes a 13-page cover gallery at the end.
