My daughter Linda and her boyfriend Chris are getting married in June 2012, and she and her mom couldn't be more giddy.  The plan is to get married in the Bahamas, and she wants me to walk her down the aisle in a white suite with a Panama hat.

So far, I'm with her I've been looking for an excuse to get a white Panama hat to match the ice cream suit I already own.   Were it to end there, this would be a wedding I'd plan if I were the kind of person who was at all interested in planning weddings.

Here's where it gets extremely cool.

Her colors are white, black, and violet/pink.  I've got the white and black covered already, and I figured she'd want me to wear a pink handkerchief in my pocket  or something, but instead tonight she said she wanted me to wear a Star Sapphire ring.

It's not just the color and the fact that her brother Pat and I are comics geeks that appeals to her.  She recognizes that it is the ring of the emotion of love, and that it is ideally symbolic of the wedding.

I can die content.  My children have surpassed me.
