A LOT of American based Internet companies (including Google and Wikipedia) are planning to take tomorrow "off" and go dark in order to protest two pending bills in Congress.
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) from the House of Representatives and the Protect Intellectual Properties Act (PIPA) in the Senate have a lot of people concerned that their good intentions will wind up limiting Internet access and freedom.
Personally, I am torn on the issue myself.
On one hand, I certainly want Online Piracy stopped and Intellectual Properties protected. But if parts of these measures wind up going the route some bills after 9-11 did...
In any event, if you have troubles with the Internet Wednesday, you now know why.
Full services are supposed to resume Thursday, January 19.
