Story from CBR.
This isn't much of a surprise since Disney recently bought the rights to Star Wars and has owned Marvel for a few years now. The move won't happen until 2015.
I never read many of the Star Wars comics from Dark Horse, though I am a fan of the original trilogy. I am reading and enjoying Star Wars by Brian Wood which takes place right after A New Hope. I know there were a lot of fans of some of the other series such as Legacy.
What do you think about it?

I've looked at a few of them and they've been good but haven't really held my interest. I have been enjoying the Battlestar Galactica books though.
I have read very, very few Dark Horse comics, but what I have read I enjoyed. Still, I tend to think of the West End Games material to be the "proper" expanded universe. I bet at this point many people would disagree with me, though!
I think the move is great for Marvel, as it's a can't-lose situation for them.
As for Dark Horse, I wish them luck in finding another money-machine like the Star Wars franchise.
I am actually surprised it took this long for the move to take place. I am a bit leery of this news though, since there isn't much that Marvel does that I em enjoying right now. With a year's notice it does give the guys on the ongoing series a chance to wrap them up, which is nice.
LJ, I played the old West End Games Star Wars RPG, and enjoyed it immensely. One of my favorite campaigns, but I didn't really read much of the books outside of the core rules since I wasn't running it.
The West End Games sourcebooks are -- and this is true -- the foundation of a lot of the deeper facts of the Star Wars Universe.
The early DH comics often acknowledged this and so have a lot of the LucasArts computer game designers.
I only wish Lucas followed their blueprints for Episodes I, II and III. Sure, he covered a lot of stuff that was purposefully left vague, but the WEG stuff was truly designed to be backward compatible for story purposes.

I had read really only a smattering of the Star Wars comics from Dark Horse, but was happy that they existed.
I loved the miniseries with Han, Lando, and the Bounty Hunters with art by Carlos Meglia. I also was a huge fan of their anthology book (Star Wars Tales?).
All I know is that Dark Horse provided some high quality books for them. I hope Marvel will find work for John Ostrander and Jan Duursema and the rest of the creators left behind at Dark Horse.
