Hot on the heels of the conclusion of Terry Moore’s Echo comes his new series, Rachel Rising. Like Echo #1, Rachel Rising #1 is largely visual and thus a very quick read. Also like Echo #1, I had just gotten caught up in the story, turned the page and BAM! It was over. I fully expect Rachel Rising to become just as engaging as Echo did a few issues in. Unlike Echo, Rachel Rising seems to be more supernatural than science fiction. The story begins with what appears to be a young woman, Rachel (duh!), rising from a shallow grave. This promises to be more than just a standard zombie tale in the hands of Terry Moore, as he has already begun to explore who she was, why she was (apparently) killed and how she (apparently) returned to life. The time to start reading is now!

  • ISSUE #2: Not only is Rachel Rising unique in comparison to Terry Moore’s own Strangers in Paradise and Echo, it is unique in the field. I won’t even attempt to describe what ha[ppens in this issue, but I will say that Rachel Rising has gotten up to speed more quickly than Echo. Is anyone else reading this series?
  • ISSUE 3: Reading this series reminds me of reading Stray Bullets (in a way), in that although each issue contributes to a larger narrative, each issue (so far, anyway) can be read alone and stand on it’s own. Another similarity is that I’m drawn into the narrative immediately, and just as I am about top lose myself completely, the furshlugginer thing is over!
