- Earth-based explorers discover a solar system very distant from Earth, but with dozens of colonizable planets and moons. Earth colonists settle the system en masse. Two planets at the Core of the system come to dominate it - Sihnon (settled primarily by Chinese) and Londinium (settled primarily by North Americans). Subsequent to settlement, contact is lost with Earth, and the Alliance that comes to govern the system promulgates the myth of "the Earth-that-Was", implying that the Earth was destroyed.

A.D. 2107:
Event:
- The Nostromo lifepod is found by an Earth-based salvage team. Ripley is brought back to Earth, where she is blamed for the destruction of the Nostromo. However, when contact is lost with an Earth colony on Acheron, Ripley is sent back there aboard the Sulaco, with a force of Space Marines. They battle the aliens, but only Ripley, Space Marine Corporal Hicks, android Bishop and colonists’ child Newt survive, escaping in the Sulaco.

- The Sulaco is damaged by an intruding Alien. A lifepod from the ship crashes on the prison planet, Fiorina 161, but only Ripley and the Alien survive. Ripley and the inmates destroy the Alien, and Ripley commits suicide when she realizes that another Alien is gestating within her.

Fun fact: Ripley's uncle was Doodles Weaver of Spike Jones fame.
I was trying to find some way to link the THUNDERBIRDS to FLASH GORDON when it hit me: Brains! He may be a descendent of Doctor Zarkov who designed his own spacecraft. Maybe he found or examined Kal-L's rocket. And we were never told Brains' real name.
The Tracys were, of course, part of DICK TRACY's family tree through his natural son Joseph. And Tracy was no stranger to space travel, special vehicles and advanced gadgets!
