Not sure where this documentary comes from, maybe a DVD extra, but it's pretty interesting. Includes some discussion on Jack Kirby and Alex Toth's work in designing the characters.
Thundarr was one of the best cartoon shows from the Saturday morning stable. It would have been nice to see a lot more episodes of this show, which only lasted 21 episodes. It's definitely worthy of a reboot!

Well, Joe Ruby did say that the show wasn't cancelled due to low ratings but probably because it was too violent. This was a great show and, yes, worthy of a reboot!
I remember really liking this series way back when. I didn't realize it only lasted 21 episodes.
It was a cute show, I think I liked Ariel's sarcastic remarks the most. I often wondered if she was born in that era or transplanted to it somehow, she seemed to know an awful lot. This and Dungeons and Dragon's were two of my favorites.
Agreed. I can see this getting the update/reboot treatment, leaving the apocalypse as vague as possible, but still with enough elements to note the original series. Have a few episodes give the origins of Thundarr (his birth, life as a slave, how he gained & bonded with the Sunsword, the inspiration to break free, ending with the first team up with Ookla & Ariel), Ookla (his life, capture, meet-up with Thundarr & the bond they share) & Ariel (her life, the time spent studying the 'old world' & learning magic, her first encounter with Thundarr), and concluding with how the 3 teamed up & escaped. The second season could introduce some of the more memorable villains from the series, with small nods to particularly strange adventures (such as events in the original series' episode "Prophesy of Peril") and giving us a better look at the post-apocalyptic world.
What's funny is the Wikipedia entry lists all the places they visited. They ranged all throughout the Americas and then jumped an ocean for an appearance in the UK.
They used the same style apocalypse as Tank Girl didn't they? A comet or planet going between the Earth and the Moon?

I think they did, Mark, I'm not sure.
