Not a lot of interest (to me) this month.
MARVEL MASTERWORKS: They’ve solicited a volume of Ms. Marvel for October release. There are a whole lot of volumes of current series I’d rather see than jumping so far into the seventies.
IDW ARTIST’S EDITION: Perhaps I should say “Artists’ Edition” since this solicitation for August includes all cover art for Marvel comics by multiple artists. Speaking of which…
MARVEL COMICS: 75 YEARS OF COVER ART: At $50, this 320 page hardcover poster book may be a more affordable option than the IDW “Artist’s Edition” above.
WALT SIMONSON “LAWNMOWER MAN” ARTIST’S EDITION PORTFOLIO: Less expensive than the ones in book form, they’re still pretty neat. I’ve seen them for Michael Golden, Neal Adams and Berni Wrightson stories. Still, I’m unfamiliar with Lawnmower Man, either the original Stephen King short story, this comic book adaptation of it, or the movie. Can anyone recommend it? Speaking of Simonson, he’s also writer/artist of a new IDW series titled “Ragnarok.” Hmm…
LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN: CENTURY: I stopped buying LoEG after the second mini-series (for no particular reason). I’ve considered buying the three volumes set in the 20th century separately, but now here they are all in one convenient edition.
RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT: This is a pretty cool addition to IDW’s “Library of American Comics” series.

The Simonson "Lawnmower Man" adaptation was very different from the movie, and I can't recall whether I've read the original King story or not. If you're a Simonson completist, sure, I'd recommend it, but I don't recall being blown away by it.
Comicvine says the Simonson work illustrated the original text in the Bizarre Adventures issue, so I suppose I have read the original. I need to dig and see if I still have the magazine.
I remember that one, it was ok.
According to the solicitation, "it was adapted for comics by King himself" [emphasis mine]. It also reads, "Only published once, in a rare Marvel magazine...," so thanks for supplying the info about Bizarre Adventures as well. I read somewhere that Simonson has kept all of his original art. We've already seen a Thor Artist's Edition as well as his adaptation (with Archie Goodwin) of the first Alien movie from another publisher. I wasn't "blown away" by the Adams or Golden or Wrightson portfolios, either, but they were (as I said above) "pretty neat," and I expect this one will be, too.
