Universal Frankenstein I & II .

I saw this TCM-plugging national event , here in its Surf City docking , of the first two movies in the Universal James Whale-Boris Karloff Frankenstein franchise ( Hah !!!!!!!!! Annoyingly using " modern " language ...,) showing theatrically , I daresay in digital prints...Speaking of " daresay " , that old American movies' habit of " showing Continental Europeans speaking like a theatrical ideal of ( Generally ) upper middle-class?? English figures in here )...

It apparently , in the commercials before the " official " start , plugged the new Universal Horror Classics?? boxed set , but I can't get that box now but I DID see this.........

  • ...So this post !!!!!!!!!!!

F'31 is an example , it seems to me , of the " Early Sound Era " still going , even if it is a tad after the " real " early sound era was over...By contrast , BOF'36 is after the , um , " High " Golden Age Of Hollywood approach has set in , thirty-five/fifty years ago mostly older than us ( ??!!??!!??? ) people tended to nostalgize for that more...It seems like in the last twenty-five or so years the early end of the sound era has been rediscovered more , before the 1934 or so time that , more or less , the " classic " Golden Age Hollywood approach for the sound era had set in , after the worst of the Depression had eased a bit and the end of the sound transition and the Code's enforcement had rather stablized Hollywood and/weeded out some smaller companies...
