This is a comic book that definitely starts off with a bang. With a fairly straight forward introduction, of Moon Knight stopping a bank robbery. But like Nuke LaLoosh he announces his presence with authority. He kicks their butts real easily, and lets everyone in NYC that he is back. It was great up until the Sentry showing up on the last page. That was a complete power down for me. I enjoyed the use of the TV news reporting on Moon Knight to fill in kind of what happened previously with Moon Knight, and also how some people perceived him then and now. IE. "And the fact that he wears white, I think, is a sign that he's seeking redemption..." "He always wore white, Rachel." Seeing him swing by the Baxter Building with the Fantastic Four looking on was a fun tidbit as well. Jerome Opeña's art is pretty decent, and his Moon Knight looks like total badass. Easy to follow storytelling. This is a $3.99 comic, but it also included a reprint of the the first issue of the first Moon Knight series.

  • The recent Moon Knight Saga freebie was a hoot. I liked the way that it seemed to come from within the MU (Moon Knight's monalogue) rather than just some omniscient narrator.

It slyly poked fun at a lot of the editorial directions at Marvel over the last few years. It also seemed to indicate that Marvel now had a good handle on this hero, but I don't know if the writers involved in the Saga and the new series are the same.

Moon Knight is a cool iconic character so I hope they manage to do something with him that sticks for a while.
  • A couple of other items I meant to mention but I was up against the Cowboy game last night Photobucket

I am glad this isn't a broken down, depressed whiny Moon Knight. That was one of the turnoffs I had with the last series. I've seen that story before like 2-3 times with Moon Knight, and pretty much every other year with Daredevil it seems. I want my Moon Knight to be strong and confident.

MK does still struggle with his violent tendencies, and there if a little Khonshu hanging around trying to get him to succumb to them, and kill the bad guys. He doesn't and the story claims he didn't even really hurt the bad guys that bad. Which is one point I think the art did fail. As MK slams his motorcycle into the lookout at the bank, and in the panel it looks like he decapitates the dude. I guess it is just his mask flying off. Either way, I think the guy would have been hurt pretty gravely.

One last thing he now uses two guns to fire off his crescent darts instead o throwing them like he did before.
