I finished reading Flash Gordon Dailies (1940-1942) yesterday, so today I started Flash Gordon Sundays (1944-1948) today. This is the first post-Raymond volume, written by Don Moore (Raymond's ghost writer) and Austin Briggs (Raymond's former assistant). When Alex Raymond enlisted in the Marines, Brigg's was brought over from the daily strip to the Sunday, and the daily strip was cancelled.

Tarzan's adventure with the lost viking civilization concludes with the rescue of Sigreda. Later, Tarzan encounters the villainous and scheming Jim Gorrey who deceifully takes control of the wealthy city of Balakan by gaining the favors of the beautiful Princess Nakonia. Tarzan faces a serious challenge to undo his clever machinations.

A solid story (Robert Kirkman) enhanced by phenominal artwork (David Finch). Apparently this (eight-issue) series has been in the works for eight years, but it is now completely in the can and thus guaranteed to come out on time. Apparently it was drawn on "MASSIVE" art boards, and all issues will be available as "treasury editions" as well. Either my LCS didn't order any of the TEs or I didn't notice them (as I mentioned elsewhere, this one wasn't on my radar), but now I've got a decision or two to make. First, do I want to own this in regular size or TE size? I suspect that I am definitely going to want this in collected format, so do I stop buying the periodicals and tradewait the rest? Will I even be able to do that? And will there eventually be a colleded edition at TE size? Decisions, decisions...
