Writer of fake review caught

The A/V Club apologizes to its readers because another website, Comics Comics, flags its review of the book Genius, Isolated: The Life and Art of Alex Toth as being bogus, owing to the fact that not only is the book not published yet, its still in the research and design stages.

The A/V Club has taken down the fake review, but the Library of American Comics has it here.

Ouch.

  • It's a shame that the writer made such a bone-headed decision and cost himself his job -- I've enjoyed quite a few of the articles he's written for the AV Club over the years.

As a matter of fact, I was actually planning to link to a couple of those articles here on the boards today.  A few of weeks ago, he started a long-term project to do in-depth reviews of every episode of Batman: The Animated Series.  The first couple of write-ups were excellent, and I thought some of the board members here would enjoy them.  I guess I won't bother with the links now.
